The reveal.

.

The home physical therapist came this morning to remove my bandage.

He’s sweet and calls me a rock star.

And Super Girl.

And the ideal patient because I’m doing so well so quickly. Honestly, he’s amazed I’m walking easily, doing exercises and caring for myself without assistance ten days post surgery.

My pain tolerance leaves him speechless. Especially since the nerve block wore off and I didn’t reach for the narcotics.

Sadly most people are still suffering at this point but he was so impressed with my progress, he decided to discharge me early… even though my insurance would cover three more visits.

Yay me.

And now, the reveal.

Ta da!

The purple permanent marker is what the surgeon uses to line up your skin after he cuts. They take forever to fade and it’s not like you can use anything to scrub them off on a fresh scar.

The PT guy carefully used a few alcohol wipes to remove some of the outer lines.

.

But damn, I still look like Frankenstein.

  1. Home visits although it sounds better with a chef than a doc! My bandage was on for 4 weeks and then when it came off, it was okay, for the most part. It looks pretty neat, now, like a trophy of honor that I survived the surgery. Hopefully, the next one will not be there for a long long time, if ever. They said the other side looks good for now.

      1. But won’t you miss PT bending your knees, stretching the quads? Ha, I have an appt. this afternoon and the Razz forced me on a second walk after his first one with Mike, so I am getting PT today!

      2. Yes, I understand. I have one appt. a week until the first week of November and then I should be finished! I have osteoarthritis, which is why they replaced the right hip. I am hoping the left hip with care and a bit of walking, but not too much will stay the course. I am amazed at the number of people lately in their 20’s and 30’s, having hip replacement. A lot. I guess if we had to wait until our 60’s, we did some things well!

      3. Yes, also I have been in a few jobs on my feet a lot which did not help. I think the younger people were prolific exercisers with running, etc. like my cousin, same age, and a few replacements. An ultra athlete and not much fat. I guess you have to go for moderation, mostly. Enjoy your day! This is my last afternoon appointment! Yeech!

  2. No drugs? Holy cow, I bow down to the Queen. I am impressed. I could always take the drugs off your hands…or better yet sell them and get something really nice for yourself LOL
