If if it wasn’t for this nasty Coronavirus:
I could have been spending a nice long weekend here.

A beautiful and rather expensive resort on the Maine coast.
I would have been walking these vast halls….

On the way to our timeshare condo (which go for up to $700 a night in the summer, but which I snagged at the bargain basement off season price of $300 for 4 nights as a surprise for the husband’s birthday) ….

I should have been sitting here…

Fresh out of the hot tub with a cocktail and an ocean view.
I could have, would have, and should have been doing all of those things. But instead I’m stuck inside the house blogging while hiding from an invisible bug that wants to kill us all.
That’s just wrong.
It’s supposed to be almost 60 degrees today, a rarity for March in Maine.
I could have been walking here :

The Rockport breakwater, which leads to….

It’s very own teeny tiny lighthouse.
It’s cute damn it! And I should have been taking photographs for a future blog.
But no.

I won’t be eating at one of the resort’s 2 restaurants.

Or having a cocktail at the ice bar.

Granted, that would probably have been slush by tonight… but still!
I could have, should have, would have been enjoying it all.
But I did the right thing and cancelled the trip so I can social distance, or shelter in place, or avoid the plague…. whatever they’re calling it these days.
But that doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it.

Yep. Have a drink, you’ll feel better.

It would have to be a really good drink…

In fact, you should be quite bitter about it.

The thing is, this resort never comes up on the bargain list. Ever!!
Grrr…

Well, you can always go out to the shed and marvel at hubby’s collection of rusty antique tools and stuff….and it won’t cost you a cent or give you the coronavirus. Your problem is that you just don’t appreciate a good thing when it’s right under your (admittedly cute) nose.

I don’t marvel well…

Tough times. I was absolutely going to spend my weekend the exact same way, but I will miss your stories and pictures.

Not sorry I’m missing those.

Too bad! And their lobby even had nice carpeting!
I bet you’ll be able to find bargain-basement pricing yet, on the other side of our current awful situation. Hotels will be begging people to come visit again. Be strong, be patient, tell hubby his birthday gift this year will have to wait.

This one is never on the last call list… first time I’ve seen it.

Don’t you have a whole cellar full of alcohol to help with the grieving process?

I don’t even go anywhere, and I’m already done with all this self-quaranteeing. Ugh.

Oh my God, can I please just copy your entire blog post, replace it with pictures of the gorgeous Orchard Inn and beautiful red rock hikes in Sedona, and post it on my own site? We share the exact same sentiments. I just cancelled yesterday.
I’m so pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😦 😦 😦

Oh no! Red rocks are a terrible thing to miss.
Please reread all my Sedona vacation posts immediately!!

Actually, I remember reading them when I first started following you. Also, I was there for a day trip about a dozen years ago. I’m totally crushed, but I have a back-up plan if we can get rid of this stupid virus. It would be to go in late August, right before school starts. There are a million things that make this iffy and a less-than-perfect plan (including but not limited to the fact that it will be boiling hot), but I have to at least have it in the back of my mind or I’ll go crazy. P.S. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but liveandletthai is back as of today. I know you’re probably furious with him, but if you feel like taking all your COVID related rage out on someone, I’ll be he’d be up for it. ;

As much as I loved Sedona’s rocks…. and I did! I really did!…. there’s no way I could visit in August. I would honestly burst into flames from the heat, and no one wants to see that.

Oh wait. I see you’ve already given him what-for. 🙂

That blows! It’s looking like I am going to have to cancel some trail magic I had planned. If you are wondering what trail magic is…

It seriously blows as this resort is never on the sale list. First time I’ve ever caught it… and then I had to release it. That’s the definition of blows.
