Another miracle.

Strange things are happening at Casa River this year.

First, the husband wanted to clean out the big barn  ( Okay, he didn’t really. It was just a bit of organizing… but I’m counting it.)

Second, the husband helped me make a garden bed.  ( I would have laid money on that never happening. )

And a week ago…

I looked out back….

And saw the husband planting a tree.

Planting! Not chopping down.

Somewhere in America, pigs are flying.

Okay, he didn’t buy them.

And only one of the three stands taller than my knee, but hey.

It’s still a miracle.

He dug them up from the wood line and I seriously doubt he got enough roots to make them viable…. which is why I told him they were going to need lots of water for the first few weeks.

Shall I give you one guess who has to drag that water to the far reaches of our property line because we only have 200 feet of hose and it won’t reach?

I didn’t think so.

Apparently even miracles have limits.

      1. Love maple trees. My uncle has a silver maple….beautiful! I’m sure yours will prosper and grow up to be trees you can be proud of. 😊

  1. This brings to mind the lyrics to a favorite little ditty:

We can plant a house, we can build a tree; I don’t even care, we could have all three.

    She said.
    She said.
    She said.
    She said.
    She said.
    She said.
    She said.

  2. I suggest that you buy another hose or two to extend you hose line to the farthest tree. Or you could buy an elephant from the nearest elephant store and train it to ‘trunk’ water to the trees. Or you could hire a native American to do an extended rain dance. Or you could pray for rain every day. Or you could choose to just say the hell with it.

My money is on the latter.

  3. You got your husband to clean/organize something? How did you do it? Please send your tips – stat!
I’m forever begging the husband to clean off his side of the desk. About once every year or two I can get him to actually do it, but it very quickly builds up into another teetering pile of junk. Anyway, two weeks ago he actually did it, except this time he just put all his junk in a cardboard box and now the box is just sitting feet from the desk. So essentially, he didn’t clean up his junk – he just moved it. Clearly I need work in the art of persuasion.

    1. He didn’t really organize anything… just moved things around. But I did manage to get him to shuffle some things upstairs so now I can see the floor. That’s progress, of a sorts.
