Father’s Day was celebrated this past weekend and for me, it was bittersweet.
I was the quintessential daddy’s girl and lost my father when I was 15 years old. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him, miss him and wish he’d been able to share more of my life.
So when I saw this segment on the evening news the other night?
I wept.
If you’ve lost your father, or your mother, or a loved one period…. watch it.
If you have a heart, I think you’ll be moved.
I had watched this when the segment aired on the CBS news and I had cried then. Watching it again, brought tears to my eyes. Such a beautiful memorial for dads everywhere. I have always said that no matter how long our parents have passed, we miss them til the day we die. ❤

It doesn’t take much to bring tears when I think of my father, but this piece really got me.

Unlike most I never celebrate Mothers or Fathers Day as I ‘divorced’ my family when I was 16. It was the first smart thing I did and I have never regretted it.
Sorry to put a sour note here but for all who miss (or will miss) their parent(s) cherish it more when you know not all had the parent they wanted/needed.

Sad, but true. And I realize I was blessed…. I do.

My father deserted my mother, sister and me when I was 12. I shed a tear or two watching this video, but they were tears for what might have been, not for memories I’ll never have.

The sentiment holds true for anyone we’ve loved and lost… or for what we never had as well.
