.
We had a bit of excitement the other day.
Yes, that’s the husband walking our road with a policeman.
.
.
They were picking up debris from an accident that happened right in front of our house.
.
.
A woman fell asleep at the wheel, went off the road, drove at least 500 feet in the ditch…
.
.
Took out two mailboxes…
.
.
Spun around and landed in our farming neighbor’s field.
.
.
Thankfully she wasn’t hurt.
.
.
But if you know anything about small town volunteer fire departments, you know everyone showed up.
.
.
She was checked out by paramedics and given the okay to leave.
.
.
And I hope she realized how lucky she was. Lucky she didn’t hit any of the 5 telephone poles in her path, lucky no one was driving on the other side of the road, lucky no one was walking their dog and lucky she entered the field on level ground instead of the small hill that would have flipped her.
.
.
A broken windshield and busted mirror could have been a whole lot worse.
.
Wow. She was lucky. At first I thought hubs and the cop were scavenging. Sorry, his reputation precedes him 😏

No apologies necessary, if there was an antique hood ornament in the ditch I doubt it would have made its way into evidence.

Wow, that is a lot of excitement for your front yard. I am glad everyone is OK.

You have very interesting pictures. Thanks for sharing. She appears to be wearing a scarf. A quiet road you have!! Most of the time, it appears. Very quiet! Glad everyone is okay.

We live in the country, and yes it’s usually blissfully quiet.

Although weird things happen everywhere. I like where there is some noise. Too much quiet makes me a bit nervous. I thought perhaps the lady was from the Middle East.

No, it was just a blustery cool day. I used to like noise, but you can always find that. Quiet has its own rewards.

Yes, I like quiet when I write or work but often we are forced through our work or the circumstances to adapt to noise or many thing simultaneously happening.

No one could believe she missed hitting everything. Aside from 2 mailboxes, there were no casualties.

If one of the mailboxes she took out was yours, maybe husband will be able to find a rusty old beat-up one at a scrap yard to replace it. Just keep in mind: happy hubby, happy life.

Thankfully she spun into the field before she hit our mailbox, but I think you’re confused. It’s happy wife, happy life…. and more rusted crap does not make this wife happy.

She really was lucky. You may not feel so lucky since I bet your husband saved some of the wreckage. Maybe a couple of the tires.

One of the tires was bent under the frame, but happily it didn’t spin off. His collection is large enough thank you.

I try not to gossip, but word on the street is that she was racing to find some cheap tires she had heard were on sale at the end of someone’s driveway…

Well, that explains it. And just think, if they had still been there she would have bounced harmlessly off.

Hopefully it scared the shit out of her enough to be more prudent. By the way, we have seen the inside of your barn. Remember? It would appear that you have daily accidents on your property.

You have a point there…

Very lucky…unlike the 3rd tree that is missing from my yard………..

Our ditch acts as a dry moat. They’d have to fly over it to take out our trees..
