Danger Will Robinson!
There’s trouble in the man cave.
.

.
I walked into the barn this morning and noticed it was a wee bit nippy.
.

.
We keep the new heat pump ( 3 months old ) set at 68 and with all the sun coming through the windows… it’s always been warm and toasty. But today? The temperature was rapidly dropping.
.
.
Lights were flashing and the unit wasn’t running. After spending an extremely annoying half hour troubleshooting with the owners manual, we broke down and called the guy who installed it… who also happens to be the son of my best friend.
.

.
He had me check the error codes and did some research. Then he called back saying he didn’t have the parts he needed to repair it in stock, and couldn’t get them right away… so he was sending his crew over this afternoon to replace the whole exterior unit.
.

.
Now that’s what I call customer service.
.

.
A path has been shoveled and we currently await the new unit.
While it’s true we like our beer and cocktails cold, we usually prefer to be well above freezing ourselves.
.
Dang… the heat pump already?? Man cave-itis….not good.

The damn thing is only 90 days old, WTH? That works out to $1,333 a month!

Aren’t you the picky crew?
Pretty good service to come out and replace it. I hope you’re warm and toast soon.

If he wasn’t the son of my friend I’m sure we’d have to wait for the part to come in. It’s blatant nepotism… and thank god for that.

Everyone is having colder weather than us. Even Texas! And hey, we have a brand new big screen tv that hasn’t even been hooked up yet in there. No freezing temps allowed.
Besides, after paying four grand for that baby I damn well expect it to last longer than 3 months.

It’s been crazy mild and warm (for us) this winter. Honestly? I don’t like it. It’s February… I want snow!

The weather this year is quite cold and snowy, after several years of warm winter.

And we have warmer temps with hardly any snow…. which is odd for us.

Yikes. You might have to switch to hot toddies until the heat pump is working again.

Not a bad idea… functioning heat or no.

I don’t know a guy. I have a Diva Furnace who has behaved himself this year (knock tf out of wood) and haven’t had to call a guy, but I’ve had two guys for this furnace in the eight years we’ve lived here and now they’re both retired, so I should prolly find a guy. We all know one day we’ll wake up in a 50 degree home.
