.
Mother Nature can’t make up her mind and we woke up to a late winter wonderland again.
.

.
The weather report predicted a dusting, we got 8 inches.
.

.
The rhododendrons had horns.
.

.
The bird feeders, hats.
.

.
Even the kissing ball Mainers leave out until April had some white frosting. Clearly spring is a long way off..
.
Wow – my brain cannot comprehend that. It’s sunny & high 70’s here in SFLA …. Your snow is beautiful though …

Same here in Tampa. Snow in March? Yeah. No thanks

Yeah Mother Nature is definitely going through menopause. One) what’s a kissing ball and Two) why do Mainers leave it out until April?
In far West Texas it’s a warm 76 degrees today…🌞🔥

It was minus 4 here this morning. A kissing ball is an evergreen decoration we hang at Christmas. It’s still winter, heck a lot of people still have wreaths and lights.

No way I want to take down lights in that, staples or no.

I take all of mine down after New Years. But the ball is pretty, and still fresh… so what the hell?

That’s me, first nice day after New Year’s Day. Over the years (25 of them) we have set up the place with assorted hooks to make it easier to hang and remove lights, but I still have no intention of going out in the cold gray mess.

I freeze putting them up, I freeze taking them down. It’s the price you pay for being festive in the north.

And up here nearing the Arctic Circle (relatively speaking) we are seeing the sun and cloudless skies for the fist time since xmas. Go figure. But the snow along our driveway stands four feet high, and that is heavily compressed!

We used to have that… sigh.

Although I don’t like to shovel the stuff, I like snow not only because it’s purty, but because I can see tracks of our various animal visitors and try to guess which animal left the tracks. It’s also a good excuse not to shovel the driveway and sidewalk, as some of our visitors don’t stick to the yard (unlike the snow, which sticks everywhere it falls and can’t get up).

We have critter tracks galore. Our backyard looks like I-95.

Here, we are slowing down as we pass the garden centers … it’s time.

Your growing season is considerably longer than ours….

Funny, we woke up to nothing even though they were predicting 1-2″. Then it started snowing…and snowing…and snowing. Still snowing. We’re up to at least 4-5″ now. Gotta love a busted forecast, huh?

They rarely get it right here. It’s a bit of a running gag.

The birds look unimpressed, and I can’t blame them. I notice that activity around bird feeders always picks up when the weather gets cold. I hope y’all manage to dig your way out by June.

The birds are funny. They peck their way inside that mound of snow in no time flat.

I woke up to 8 inches of wet, heavy snow this morning after the useless meteorologists predicted 1 inch. And of course, the husband left for a week in Arizona yesterday. Just my luck – solo shoveling and roof-raking.( And pet parenting, of course.)

Yikes. That’s bad timing!
