We ducked into Damariscotta Lake State Park recently for a quick picnic lunch. It was on the way to the motorcycle repair shop and we were hungry.

Take out Italians always taste better by a body of water.

Being after Labor Day we had the place pretty much to ourselves which was sweet.

Bye bye tourists.

I know we need your money, but it really is much nicer without you.

Perfect picnic place!

Very peaceful place.

Nicer without me? Maybe so, but not more historically attractive, because I add an old fossil to the scenery.

Ha! I do love old fossils. Heck, I married one.

Beautiful. I like the idea of doing a spontaneous daytime picnic. Filing that away for when my soon-to-be retired husband and I are looking for things to do.

That is gorgeous. What is the temperature there this time of year?

We’ve been in the low 70’s with nights dipping to 50.

What a serene place to have a picnic lunch. Even the water looks like it’s at peace without tourists.

Our economy needs them, but the whole state breathes a sigh of relief after Labor Day.

I often say there’s nothing to see in Minnesota, but as a place to live, I sure am glad I never have to deal with tourists.

It’s a shame our economy is so reliant on them.

It’s going to be weird learning to live without tourists here. I wonder where we can pick up some good Italians?
