Heading out of the harbor proper, we found some scenically beautiful spots.

For gorgeous coastline, it’s hard to top Maine.

We drove at will, no destination in mind. And sometimes cutting down side streets resulted in dead ends.

Like a marina we didn’t know was there.

.
Other times there were loop roads….

With extremely peaceful seating.
.
.
And if you want peace and quiet? Take a tip from that guy.

He certainly had the right idea.

For me, to just be one with nature. To be part of nature without disturbing it. Having the birds and bears and foxes see me, but not notice me, not be scared to approach and say a friendly, “Hello.”

I could use a rock like that guy right now. Just to sit there and take in the scenery and ponder all of the crap life’s thrown at me……good times.

Beautiful coastline. Jealous of that guy on the rock. Great location to stop and just take it all in.

Oregon might be the only place to give Maine a run for the money! One of these days I want to check out your Portland.

British Columbia is full of spots like this too, mostly without the storms that bear down on the eastern coast. I have never seen even 10′ waves on the BC coast, whereas in Cape Breton I saw 50′ waves, and there was no hurricane.
