I forgot one of the best parts of the Inner Sanctum trail at Ausable Chasm….

The wall of moss.

The husband went in for a close up… so you know it had to be good.

A solid wall of perpetually wet moss. It was amazing.

I loved it.

Thankfully it was a warm late October day and the bridge wasn’t iced.

And though I didn’t want to leave, we’d reached the end of the trail and it’s giant knee pain inducing stairs.

Boy would it ever. Instead we have moss on the roof of our shed. Not as cool but certainly making a statement.

I’ve always found moss interesting for some reason. There is a bank building near us which has a wall of shingles on the side where the moss has been allowed to set up shop, and it looks really cool.

There was a similar wall of moss on one of my favorite hikes in the Columbia Gorge. Gotta admit, it was pretty interesting and definitely worth a close-up.
