Because I really need another time sucking app.

.

Are you familiar with Goodreads?

I wasn’t, but now I’m addicted.

Goodreads is the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations. Our mission is to help people find and share books they love.

Find and read more books you’ll love, and keep track of the books you want to read. Be part of the world’s largest community of book lovers on Goodreads.

Being a voracious reader, I had to join. Once you sign up and choose your favorite categories, there are daily recommendations based on your preferences and reading history.

.

.

There’s also a place to keep track of what you’re currently reading, what you want to read and what you’ve already read.

.

.

And a yearly reading challenge where you plug in how many books you want to read that year.

.

.

As you can see, I’m eleven books ahead of schedule.

If you love to read? Check it out… it’s free so you’ve got nothing to lose. Except time.

  1. Ohh, this sounds like it’s right up my alley. Thanks for the recommendation! Sadly I’ve only read 3 books this year (2023.) But last year I was up to 24, that’s a lot for me, I could never catch up to you, lol.

  2. I used to read 10 books a week when I was younger. All kinds of books, fiction and non-fiction. Then I got a concussion. It now takes 3 months to read a book. I cannot focus the way I used to. I’ve written a couple reviews on Goodreads in the last year or so, but that’s about it. I am reading Book Three of an extended triology by Australian writer Wendy Waters as I write, but it will be weeks before I am finished.

      1. I can still tell you the plots of books I read and enjoyef years ago, though a lot of what I read was just cannon fodder. I read because I enjoyed reading, and I just happened to be a fast reader. Now I can read the same page 3 times, and not know what the story is about. It makes me want to cry.

  3. I needed this…been falling behind on reading, seeing it as an indulgence instead of remembering that it doesn’t just bring me joy, it makes me a better writer and more rounded person. Thank you for this post!

  4. I’ve used Goodreads on occasion, but I’m addicted to travel planning apps and websites like Google Flights, Delta Vacations, Skyscanner, etc., and I’ve recently gotten into time-sucking jigsaw puzzles, so I’m all booked, so to speak.

      1. I have the app on my phone so this is how it works there. If you go down to the bottom of your page and click more, then add friends.. at the top of the page there’s a search box to look for people already on the site. But I sent you an invite so it should be in your notifications ready to approve.

  5. Hey, River. I’ve been on Goodreads for years, as well. I used to be very active, back when I was promoting my books, but lately I use it mostly just to track my reading and manage my shelves/inventory. In any case, I’m there under my own name, should you feel moved to connect…
