My toaster is a snob.

.

As you know my husband gave me the toaster to end all toasters for Christmas. Leverless, digital and to be honest, pretty full of itself.

.

.

I say this because my husband came home from running an errand the other day with this:

.

.

A fancy stainless steel expandable dish drainer…

.

.

With a removable cutlery holder, knife slot, cutting board rack and multi position drain spout.

.

.

Did we need an expandable stainless steel dish drainer with a removable cutlery holder, knife slot, cutting board rack and multi position drain spout?

.

.

We did not.

But I’m guessing that fancy new toaster was embarrassed by the old Rubbermaid drainer and told the husband to kick it to the curb.

  1. I do, I do! I have a cheapy expandable dish drainer. Works well enough, I was too cheap to go for the fancy one. No, I don’t have a dishwasher (nor do I want one) but I’ll take that fancy dish drain rack any day.

    1. It’s funny.. the people who lived here before us removed three drawers and put in a dishwasher. When we moved in we removed the dishwasher and put back a cabinet with a sliding shelf. I don’t like them either.

      1. Ahh, when I had my kitchen renovated 3 years ago I had them remove the dishwasher and put in a trash bin drawer/cabinet howsoever they call it – it’s a small kitchen in an apartment and I needed places to put things not some dishwasher that I would never use – there is only the 2 of us? Everyone who worked on the kitchen said ‘But I never heard of anyone taking a dishwasher out!” Yeah, well it’s MY kitchen and it needs to work for me…

  2. Okay most of the stuff that you get I know you can do without. If that toaster is being snobby, chuck it into the basement for now, lol. I am going to look for that expandable dish rack as I have very limited counter space (for now) and that’s actually something I could use.

    1. To be honest it’s not that great. Bowls don’t stack properly and the cutlery holder is in the wrong spot. I usually slide my drainer in the sink when I’m done but you can’t with this one. And if you don’t extend it properly, water leaks out the back. A good waste of $50 in my opinion.

  3. I did some research on your toaster. Yeah. It is patented by some guy name “Elon Musk”, and it was tested in outer space. Actually, it LAUNCHED the spaceship all by itself (see the third button from the left, marked “launch”?), and was programmed to place the toaster in a perfect synchronous orbit so that it could track all the other like toasters for a future “toast” rebellion. You are now ground zero.

  4. .Don’t blame the husbands, per se. Blame the men who have to buy every new gadget that comes out. I don’t do gadgets. The first toaster I ever used you had to turn the bread around to toast both sides. The first dish trai er I used was called a tea towel. I still use them.

      1. Cuz he thinks you really want them, even if you say no. He wants your life to be easy as possible.
Tell him I said to wise up! Listen! Your wife doesn’t lie to you! (Do you?)

  5. My toaster is one small step up the evolutionary ladder from the base model. It holds two slices and has the little lever you push down to get started. The thing that makes it better is that , if your toast is too light, you can drop it back down and it won’t pop back up in ten seconds. Hooray.

  6. I had a toaster but gave it up for a toaster oven. Then I missed the actual toaster, so I gave up the toaster oven for a toaster. Now I miss the toaster oven again.

I might be the exact type of consumer the toaster folks are targeting.

    1. It shouldn’t surprise you to know my husband gave me a giant expensive toaster oven with all the bells and whistles… convection, air fryer etc… a few years ago. I’m running out of counter space.
