A sister restaurant of our go to favorite place opened recently in Falmouth and I’ve been dying to check it out.
So on a sunny late afternoon last week, we did just that.
.

.
Welcome to the Sicilian Table.
.

.
Like our favorite restaurant, no expense was spared when it came to interior design.
.

.
It was bright and cheerful with lots of wood, stone, rattan and soothing neutral colors.
.

.
It was a good sized two floor space, but offered many intimate seating choices.
.

.
Did I mention there were giant artsy fartsy fish flying overhead?
.

.
These bold beauties were hung here and there and were dramatic to say the least.
.

.
I’m guessing this lighting is meant to pay homage to Maine’s coastal lifestyle by imitating jellyfish…
.

.
This oddly placed ceramic tile wonder … yes, if you zoom in you can see they’re all individual pieces… led to the rest rooms.
And while it was a lovely restaurant inside, the location they chose struck me as odd. While it’s sister sits on the water, this place is the bottom two floors of a law office building smack on Route 1… the busiest coastal route in the state. Falmouth is a wealthy town with multi million dollar estates on the shore. This pricey restaurant will do well, but it would have been nice to have a better view from its windows than the parking of the strip mall it sits in front of.
.

.
To be continued…
.
Fabulous interior, but I agree: crap view. Hopefully the food took after the interior scenery rather than the exterior.

I questioned the location when they were building it, but like so much else…. it’s all about the money and high tourist numbers.

With views like that . . . who needs windows???
They should invest in a good set of blinds . . . or hand out blinders to patrons. 😀

Thankfully we were facing the other way, into the restaurant. Somehow I doubt those window tables are popular..

But where’s the food? It’s really unusual to see a post from you without some food and drink pics.

Did you not notice the part one in the title…?

I like those artsy fartsy fish sculptures, the rest of the décor is awesome as well, lol.

I adored the fish! All their restaurants are lovely… with the prices that let you know you’re paying the loveliness.

A very cool-looking place, even if the outdoor view isn’t worth looking at.

It’s easy to forget the location once you’re inside… and facing the other way.

Kind of odd, but décor is not important to me. I do not eat chairs, tables, and curved stair casing. It is all about the food! The best grouper I ever had was on a decrepit old dock behind an abandoned shrimp factory, right next to some old boats that had not set sail since De Soto discovered the Bay. It was in a little town called Cortez just North of Sarasota. It was served with fries in a box, I am not a fan of paying for ambiance.

Lobster shacks on the water are plentiful up here but sadly not open in the winter.. or the spring for that matter.

We can get fresh-out-of-the-water lobster only in Key West, and not as good as whole Maine, but most everything else is 12 months a year Gulf-to-Plate.

Oh, we can get the seafood… just not at those don’t care about the atmosphere shacks.

We got shack dives all up and down the Gulf Coast. Sometimes I wonder if the catch of the day takes so long to serve because they have not caught it yet! Thing is, those cooks know how to cook it since there family has been at it since the Gulf was just a small lake.

It’s the same on the Maine coast. Fishing families cooking their catch for generations..

Sounds like one of those places where the view just doesn’t matter; they know they’ll attract locals and visitors anyway, so might as well save a few bucks on real estate.

They didn’t save any money, not in that town. It’s prime retail space, just not very pretty.

Weird location indeed …

I wondered at the curious exterior in the first image. I’m guessing cashed up lawyers will schmooze there and dine in when working late.

It looks like a very well-thought-out place; I love the decor, and that tile work is mesmerizing.
I’m also stunned at the view. Looking forward to hearing about the food!

They have four restaurants within 40 miles and they’re all beautifully decorated.
