Yes, after owning his current BMW sedan for barely 2 years my husband has decided he wants a new vehicle.
And by new… I mean my husband’s version of new which is usually 20 years old. He’s rough on vehicles and puts a lot of miles on them quickly so while I buy new, he doesn’t. Which is why he always wants a different one every few years. He plum wears them out.
His current car is a 2006 and since he’s on a BMW kick, the next one has to be as well. Tired of him constantly buying and selling I persuaded him to go a little newer this time. Ya know… preferably in the last decade. It was a struggle but I convinced him to draw the line at 2014. Nothing older.
I also leaned heavily on the idea of an SUV. River’s bad knee has had enough of climbing out of low slung rides.

We found this blue one..

And took her for a spin.
But the porridge was too hot.

We found this brown one and took her for a spin.
But the porridge was too cold.
We drove for 7 hours that day randomly hitting car dealers and private sellers. The result? Those two.
Apparently the BMW X3’s are a rare breed in our part of the world.
The search continues…

Oh golly – I had a Beamer years ago – lovely to drive but the repair bills almost killed me. Switched for a little Lexus IE which after 22 years is still running with few repairs! Good luck!

He’s had two BMW’s in the past 5 years. I think it’s going to be a trend….

Except in husband’s case, the three dimensions are probably height, width and OLD. 😀

Old cars, old trucks, old tools.
At least he’s consistent.

Closed minds miss out on possibilities presently invisible for not looking.
SUVs on the other hand are not environmentally healthy.
Our 2013 Honda CRV is comfortable, gas-efficient, and 🤞has not cost us a penny in repairs,🤞. Easily maintained. (But we put in a heavy-duty battery because of where we live! The little thing that came with the car was insufficient for a northern Canada winter!)

The CRV is an SUV, and in the same size class as the BMW X3. Though I’m sure repair costs are less.

Yeah, it’s a small SUV, with 1/3 the weight, and needs much less power to run. I have no idea what parts for a BMW run, but the CRV could get expensive. When it starts to go it will be more efficient to trade it in on a new model. Wr would go electric, but there is no infrastucture for it, and won’t be for many years. But for now, we aren’t thinking about that. Hopefully we will have another good 5 -10 years on this one.

Good luck finding a new vehicle, no matter how you define new. As for Hondas, in case you care, my 20 year old Accord is rock solid while my husband’s 2016 Accord isn’t as reliable… and costs a lot to repair… which happens yearly at least. Sadly Hondas aren’t what they once were.

My other half won’t buy new but always finds something wrong with old. Car shopping with him is not a good time.

I hope you got a good meal and refreshing beverage after this carhopping jaunt! Mona

I didn’t. Was too tired to do anything but come home…

Seven hours to look for a car….sorry a BMW? Dang, you did need an adult beverage for sure. So the hubs is a Ford truck man but a BMW car driver? 🤔

He seems to be working his way through their inventory. Started with a 7 series, then a 5, now an X3.

Used cars have been scarce for the past few years now. If it’s gotta be a BMW SUV, you may have a few more seven-hour days of searching ahead of you still. Good luck!

Thanks. I’ll probably need it…

Seven hours. Kill.me.now.
I’m shocked that your husband drives a foreign car. It doesn’t bother me (I love my Audi!) But I thought he’d surely be Ford or Chevy all day.

He loves his old Ford 150 trucks, but we’ve always had foreign otherwise.
And that seven hours was just the first day…
