I saw something in the antique store the other day that catapulted me back to my childhood. Ten years old, walking down to Browns 5&10 with my allowance in hand ready to buy the newest set of Wacky Packages.
They came in a small pack like baseball cards and included the same awful piece of gum. There was a check list as well because you had to be the first of your friends to collect them all.
.

.
The cards had been around since the late 60’s, but when I bought them in the early 70’s the format had changed to stickers.
.

.
My favorites?
Crust toothpaste and Minute Lice.
What can I say? Kids are disgusting.

.
🤣

You got me on this one. I don’t remember these, and I was in the 5 & 10 in the 60s. Maybe it’s just my memory. Or worse, maybe I didn’t get it then 🙂

I bought the second series in the early 70’s. Funny how well I remember them..

Ha! I remember these, talk about a blast from the past. I had those stickers every where and my dad did not like that…lol.

I carefully hoarded mine in a book. No peeling stickers for me.

Never heard of these. I was busy smoking weed and dropping acid, a much more erudite pastime.
But we accidentally have an unopened case of Diet DR. PEPPER from the 80s that my partner bought, hid from her mother, then forgot about. By the time she found it, it was undrinkable. But maybe someday someone will want it…

My weed days came later, though thankfully I bypassed the acid.
And it shouldn’t surprise you to know my spouse has various “collectible” six packs of undrinkable 80’s soda as well.

You bypassed the acid? Now I know how you can hate Ms Red, and still love everyone else, But that’s okay. I’ll forgive you on her behalf. Some people just clash!
So what ‘s hubby’s excuse for hanging onto fizzless pop. I have a feeling it was more intentional than our reason.

It might come back again. Diet DR. PEPPER will never come vack. But the calue of the can itself occasionally increases. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

They had a Pawn Stars episode where someone brought in an entire collection of these stickers. Volumes of them. The pawn shop bought them for a great deal of money…a few thousand if I recall (keeping in mind I can not remember what I had for lunch yesterday).

Damn. Makes me wish I’d kept mine.

I collected baseball cards back in the day, and the gum was always terrible. Yet, I would have been upset if there wasn’t a stick in there…

Right? You had to chew it.
