Mother Nature is putting on her own fireworks show at Casa River.
.

.
And while it’s not the true red, white and blue of the Fourth…
.

.
Pink and purple are close enough for me.

.
The Japanese irises are still in bloom and the peonies are starting to pop.
.

.
They’re truly gorgeous blooms and smell divine with a rich heady fragrance.

Happy holidays from my garden to yours!

Our wooden balcony devoid of plants offers a greeting in return 😁

No plants?
I can’t even imagine that…

Neither of us has a green thumb. We once killed a cactus. My wide has also unsuccessfully tried growing herbs..the main problem being we never get direct sunlight, so even our cat can never truly fur tan

Everything was late here this year. Cold dry spring…

All my peonies are well past it. Now we’re starting to get coneflower. Happy 4th!

I planted coneflower this spring. The woodchucks really enjoyed it.

Happy birthday to those who live below the 49th Parallel, or anywhere inside the world’s longest undefended border, wherever they may be.
Just saying, but your gardens look like a lot of hard work was put into them. Anytime you want a vacation you can come up here and create similar gardens in our yard. Now that we cannot move around as easily as once we did, nature has run wild. And there are no red squirrels or woodchucks to contend with, just 8 month long winters. 😂

As much as I’d love to visit, I have all I can do to keep my gardens weed free at the moment. A blown knee makes everything so much more difficult…

Did I tell you Gail has been moved up the list for knee replacement surgery? We finally found a surgeon who agrees she needs surgery ASAP, except, he is going on extended holidays he booked last year. So we are looking at probably August or September. Not great, but better than we had — which was nothing.

Good is definitely better than nothing. Hope all goes well…

Thanks. Any hope for you yet?

To be honest, knee replacement is the only thing I haven’t tried.

It was the surgeon who suggested it after looking at her knee, and seeing the x-rsys. He said rhere was to way to save it, it was beyond normal repair possibilities.

How utterly beautiful River! I’m so jealous, my lawn is barely turning green….🫤

In June it rained 26 out of 30 days. So far we’re 4 for 4 in July. We’re so green it hurts…

Yeah….rub it in why don’t you….🤪

Sorry. I love rain but it really is becoming a nuisance. The lawn is green… but swampy.

We’ve got some red bee balm, white daisies, and blueberries. Casa Petruska is definitely putting on some patriotic vibes this year!

Wait. These are flowers. You have the greatest representation of Patriotism living with you: your husband. No need to worry about the colors of the flowers.

Close enough! The flowers currently blooming in our backyard are yellow – not especially appropriate!

I’ve lost most of my yellow to the woodchucks. So far they’ve eaten the marigolds, the coreopsis and the gerbera daisies.
