.
We’ve been having a stretch of extremely (for Maine) hot and humid weather.
.

.
And when it’s this oppressive, I always worry if our resident critters can find water.
.

.
No doubt they can…
.

.
But I feel better if I make the search a bit easier.

So, I’ll have to go FURTHER north to get away from the heat?

It’s been awful here for a few weeks, but the heat and humidity are set to break Sunday. We’re going from 90 to 74.

We’re going all the way down to 87. At least my A. C. won’t be overwhelmed.

Ugh.
I’m so ready for winter…

Be careful what you wish for. Blizzards, ice storms, and hurticanes could make winter so bad you’ll be begging for oppressive heat. You are not that far from Nova Scotia, where weather is battering that area with all klinds of disasters. You are obviously in a different climate where you live, and I don’t wish these disasters on you, but nature has gotten mean. It can strike anywhere, anytime.
And just as a caution to all you Southerners down there, I live above the 59th parallel, not just the 49th parallel. We were hot, cooled off for a week, but now our temperatures sre climbing again, and we are back to being the hot spot in the province again. If severe heat can happen this far north, it is going to happen in the South.
You best convince your Republican politicians Climate Change is real. The USA is one of the biggest contributors to climate change gases in the world. If they don’t get on board with The Greening of America there will soon be no world for America to be No. 1 in!
(I left the typo in hurricanes on purpose! It just seemed so honest!)

I hear you. Severe weather is our future … and our fault.

We put low-edge water bowls (planter bottoms) out for the critters as well. They all need water – nicely done.

Every morning when I wake up the bowl is empty and full of dirt. Raccoons like to wash their food…

Try filling the bowl with dirt, and maybe it will be full of water when you wake up. If not, fill the bowl with an adult beverage to see if the bowl will be full of woodchuck when you wake up. Then pour water over the woodchuck to wake it up, and you can go back to bed.

Ha!
Sober woodchucks do enough damage, I’m not unleashing drunken ones.

My husband always leaves water out for the squirrels and birds although they don’t always share nicely!

We have a big birdbath but it’s too high for the chucks.

Meanwhile, Mother Nature does thank you for caring for her crestures. But she really wishes you would love Ms Red as you love everyone else. Everyone needs love, even the ones you hate.
Speaking of which, is Ms Red still having babies? You never mention cute baby squirrels in your posts.

She’s welcome to the water like everyone else. I never turn away a creature in need. But I’ve only caught glimpses of her here and there this year… I’m hoping that means she nested somewhere else.
