.
Though we have the occasional opossum in our backyard nibbling at fallen bird seed, I’ve never given them much consideration as a pet….
Until now.

.
Damn you Facebook for having an opossum lovers page and making me want to adopt one.
.

.
Now I want to give an opossum a bath…
.

.
And dress him for the holidays.
.

.
I even want to put one in a box.
And give him a manicure.
❤️
O possum! My possum! In my home, you’ll be a perfect fit….
Although Lord Dudley may not agree, I must admit 😀

Totes adorbs, but I don’t think I’ll be looking to adopt one of them anytime soon. I do wonder how they “like” manicures…

Probably not much.
But I’ll feed him treats while I file…

Me too! I was totally cool with the wild one that was in my house for a month (took that long to coordinate our timing for it to go outside)

You had a wild opossum in your house… for a month… and didn’t end up with a pet? I’m strangely disappointed…

It was feral. Plus, one of the orev outdoor opossums had “burroughing fleas”, which are huge and gross.
It would climb the cat tree and/or security screen at 3am then run away when I got up to let it out.
I still have 2, maybe more, living in my garage. Crittercam video suggests the big one is a boy and the smaller a girl.

They are so darn cute I have to admit. Although, His Lordship may not agree with your adopting a second pet, lol.

I remember a story about a couple who had like 6 Possums as pets. They said they were as nice and tame as cats. Plus, they can be litter box trained.

Skunks can as well. Maine used to allow it but now having them as pets is illegal…

But how would his Lordship react ?

Not well I imagine…

We love possumses here at The Nest, though never considered someone would actually tame one as a pet.

We have one here, but no pictures. Not only are they cute as all get out, they eat every bad thing you can name, and they carry no disease.

They’re wonderful, I wish we had more. I can never get a picture because they only come at night and don’t like lights.

Is there any actual possumbility that you’ll add one to your household?

Doubtful.
But a girl can dream….

I have always found opossums to be butt ugly. But this one is clearly the exception!

They are funny looking, but butt ugly can be cute.

More importantly, do they get along with cats and your future wombat?

That is yet to be determined.
