.
In my younger days I was a sun worshiper.
A summer lover. A beach bum who loved nothing more than sultry hot days and long walks on burning white sand.
Now? I like a different kind of white.
.

.
I want cold crisp air and a blanket of snow.
.

.
While most people crave warmth as they age, the older I get the more I look forward to winter.
.

.
It’s beautiful…
.

.
And peaceful.
.

.
I love the gentle colors …
.

.
And the stillness of the season.

Everyone in my office is from a tropical country. They just don’t GET IT. The cold is GREAT.

I need the change of seasons. 365 days of summer would bore me.

Those are indeed beautiful vistas – I loved the snow and cold when I was young, now old I have not moved on to loving heat and sun – but I always loved the beach in the winter – I spent more days at Jones in the Winter than I ever did in the Summer.

Jones Beach was my mothers favorite. I have a lot of lovely old photos of her there.

These are beautiful photos. I do love winter. I hope we have more snow and less rain this winter. I may regret asking for that come March, but that’s the wish for now.

I’m so tired of rain and ice. I need snow!

So picturesque!!
Now that tachicardia has me constantly overheating, I’m considering cold locales.

Oh I’m with you there, I love winter and can much more tolerate the temps better than in the summer. Although your winters a much different than mine, here there is no snow (at least not yet) and it’s just cold but I love it!

I like having a fire. Fortunately the woodshed is close by. We had a pretty big snow with vicious cold and a five day power outage back in 2010, just before Christmas. It started on Sunday, so no football. Instead, we bundled up in front of the fire and listened to some Grand ole Opry Christmas programs on our extreme low fidelity battery operated radio. If you don’t have one, it would be a great gift for anyone you might want to enjoy some old time country with by the light of the fire. If not that, have the best winter you can.

Grand Ole Opry isn’t my jam, but we do have a fireplace and a battery operated radio…

Some snow for the Holidays is always welcome.. We’ve had flurries on three different occasions now so maybe snow’s return is getting closer. It has been cold enough…so we’re at least halfway there.

We can’t seem to stay cold enough to keep it.
It’s melting as we speak…

We had a bunch of rain Sunday, but the area is still down about four inches of precip so we’ll take more of rain or snow. As much as I love snow covering the ground, I dislike when it starts to melt and you have that “transition” phase back to seeing land once more.

We call that period right before spring mud season up here. When all the snow melts, it’s a mess.

Our preferences definitely change over time. I think, as kids, we all prefer the summer (no school, vacations, etc.)

I’m the same way! I never expected to love winter, but I think the winter of 2020/lockdown changed my mind. I appreciate the peace and quiet of winter. 🖤

Covid changed my routine as well. I used to run an errand here and an errand there… now I pick one day a week and do them all.

Snow is beautiful – well, at least until you get more than 6 feet of it like we did last year. Then, it’s a bit of a pain. Still looks gorgeous in photos, though. I especially love your last photo – country winters are awesome.

I miss those bigs dumps of snow. Feet at a time is fun… now we’re lucky to get a couple of inches.

I love the snow and ice too … but here in West of Scotland, it doesn’t hang around long and quickly turns to horrible, dirty slush … at which point I suddenly crave the summer again. 😉

Our spring is called mud season, so yes. I agreed the aftermath isn’t nearly as pleasant….

I’m definitely the black sheep in my family, being the only one who absolutely loves snow and cold.
