Since we’ll be replacing our dining room set as well as our living room, I took my husband to a high end furniture store in Freeport last week.

Thomas Moser pieces are custom made and truly gorgeous.
I liked this bed frame…

But I admit they’re a wee bit expensive.
This chair?

Almost $5,000… which had my husband running upstairs to the “bargain” outlet.

.
Where there weren’t any bargains but some very nice owls…

.
At the next store we were back to couches, where that was one too small…
.
.
And this one too soft… even if you paid extra for firmer support cushions.
He did find me a green couch …

.
But… no.
The only time he smiled that day?

.
When he discovered a coffee table that doubled as a beer cooler.

Your husband always looks incredibly uncomfortable in all the sofas…I too love that bed frame – I like curvy shapes. I’m wondering is Ethan Allen brand furniture might be more up his alley – not inexpensive for sure but well made in traditional styles.

I have to wonder how often your husband actually sits on the sofa. He looks like it is a rare event. I also have to ask if reupholstering your existing sofa is an option? I do find that new stuff feels not quite right in the beginning but we adjust to it or it adjusts to us very quickly.

He tends to sit in the chair most days but lays down on the couch every night to watch tv and usually ends up falling asleep there.

I love that dining table and the green couch. That’s the style of couch I want, but in red and not leather. Well he found something he liked, lol.

The coffee table is cool(er), but the couches not so much.
The bed frame is a winner, but financially out of touch….
Unless one has money and came to play, in which case I say:
Deal me in, and let the chips fall where they may.

Price isn’t really an issue, but $20,000 for 4 chairs seems a little steep.

For me, I just need a coffee table to be a coffee table. I like the owl. I’m not sure what specific color we should call the green couch…

Wrong! That is what you should call the colour. The couch itself might be nice in a shade of light brown… like the one behind it!

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Furniture shopping is difficult enough by yourself without the added ‘input’ from a spouse.

I’ve done all the furniture shopping alone in the last few years, and I’m here to tell you: IT’S MUCH BETTER buying alone and living with any repercussions.

I usually narrow it down to two or three and let him have input after that… but thus time he wants to be involved in the process.
