.
Living room furniture shopping with my husband continued, even though it ceased being fun a while back. Nothing pleased the man and I was doubting we would ever find a set that checked all his boxes. Until we walked into… of all places… Lazy Boy.
I despise recliners and that store wasn’t even on my radar, but damned if it wasn’t where he finally found a couch he liked.
.

.
Rolled pillowless back, good length, solid arms.
.

.
It looks almost identical to the set we have now… which I didn’t really want, but he’s worn me down with his fussiness and I’m ready to cry uncle.
.

.
Miracle of all miracles you can pay a few hundred dollars more per piece and get the firmest damn cushions on the face of the planet (think park bench comfort) which is his number one issue.
.

.
They’re actually temperpedic, like the mattresses… and that sealed the deal for my spouse.
.

.
He’s not smiling, but trust me…. Goldilocks was pleased.
Up next? Fabric.
😊
.
And, room for His Lordship at the other end! lol
Congratulations! I like it, looks stylish and comfortable.

It won’t be when he orders the extra hard cushions, but I’m getting regular on my couch.

It’s more like screaming than crying, but I take your point.

Rolled arm furniture is pretty and comfortable when you reach over the arm to grab the remote or a beverage. I haven’t been in a Lazy Boy store in years, same reason as you. No recliners, thank you.

These don’t recline, and apparently they make other things now. Who knew?

That’s a nice sofa, even if it is brown. You can show me the most stylish, cushy sofa around and if I can’t stretch all the way out, not a particularly long stretch, then it’s on to the next one. We shopped at Lazy Boy for our last sofa but the fabric selection was fifty shades of blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Hopefully they have updated their style a little bit. Can’t wait to see the whole thing put together in your house.
Any love on the dining room? Check out Sam Maloof and/or George Nakashima. Lavishly expensive, to be sure, but this crosses the line between high end furniture and fine art. I’m not sure how I would like it on carpet, more like hardwood with a nice rug. I imagine your floors get a little cold, so you might have to suffer for your art a little. Tight lines.

That floor model was grey, but I have to go look at fabric soon. We’re still searching for the dining room…. Goldilocks is not easily pleased.
The carpet will be ripped out soon, and while I’m all about quality, lavishly expensive art like furniture might be pushing it with all the other renovation work we’re doing.

Just out of curiosity, where did you purchase your last couch from?
I find most men don’t like extreme change from what they are used to.

A store called Furniture Superstore. I checked there before I started dragging the husband around but they didn’t have firm enough cushions.

He likes firm cushions? I’m all about softness. If I can’t sink into them, I’m not interested!
Just out of curiosity, why don’t you like recliners?

He’s had a bad back ever since his days in the Corps. The soft pillows with no support cause him pain getting up and down.
As for recliners, I’ve never liked them. The look, or even the idea. Not sure I can adequately detail why… just don’t.

I’m replying to this comment from the comfort of my own recliner, ha. I just love them to pieces. Tara is more of a couch girl, but I couldn’t live without a comfy recliner!

With you on that one, sir. I’m a lazy sort of guy — I like to be comfortable.

Oh your not gonna stick with the bland color of this couch ?

No, that was just the floor sample. I have to choose fabrics another day. We’ll do two solid couches with patterned pillows, chair and ottoman.

HA! He wore you down, and got the exact same couch as you have now! So when you have to buy the dining set, you stick to your guns gurl! LMAO.

Not exactly the same, but very damn similar. The process has just been too painful to prolong…. 🥴

I think this is a win for the old man. More power to him. Thank him for his service, maybe bring him a beer so he doesn’t have to get up.
