Note to self – check bookcases.

.

As much as I love to read, in general I’m not a fan of old books. While beautiful, the musty smell that usually accompanies them puts me off.

But I do have a small collection that belonged to my father and after reading this article I think I need to examine it more closely.

It’s said you learn something new every day and this was mine.

What they hell were they thinking?

Guess you don’t have to worry about mice nibbling them, but still.

😳

Here’s an interesting article if you want to know more…

  1. I love the smell of old books. One of the first things I want to do when we visit a new town is visit a good used bookstore. I don’t think you’re weird because of this but I’ve been wrong before.😊

  2. Someone in the library where I work opened up a box of old books that had gotten wet and had to be treated for exposure to toxic mold. So there’s another way old books can harm you, but you should be okay if you keep them dry.

  3. Cathy’s library is in a college town with a largely older, well-off population. Their bookstore receives a lot of antique book donations. I told her about the arsenic paint on the book covers and she said she would be sure to pass that around to the rest of the staff. Thanks for passing that around to me.
