Peonies are popping.

.

Peonies are the best.

.

.

There, I said it.

.

.

I’ll take a peony bouquet over roses any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

.

.

They’re full and vibrant and smell heaven sent.

.

.

We have two large bushes near our back deck and they never disappoint.

.

.

They’re too high for woodchuck bubblers.

.

.

For which I’m quite thankful.

.

.

His Lordship enjoys them as well.

.

.

Though that might just have been the sun.

  1. We need to put a fence around ours until it grows tall enough to avoid the little nibblers. They ate it down to sticks over the winter, and they’ve gobbled the blooms before we’ve been able to see them. I guess they are a bunny favorite as well. Yours are beautiful.

  2. I don’t know why peonies don’t get more ‘play’. They are beautiful and do smell divine. I have developed quite an antipathy towards roses. My mother had peonies in her garden and I remember that the buds were always full of ants and my mother said the ants helped the flowers open…don’t know if that’s true…

    1. It’s funny you mention that… my late father was an extraordinary gardener and had a beautiful line of assorted color peonies, it was almost a hedge. When I was young they were always covered in ants, but I have 5 bushes and not an ant in sight. Ever.
