.
When the husband and I had moved as much of the bedroom furniture as we could without help, we called for help.
.

.
And a local friend came over to assist in the ‘make room for new carpet’ clear out.
.

.
Navigating our two narrow hallways with 90 degree turns isn’t easy.
Did I mention the weather was not cooperating?
.

.
This is Maine. Older homes don’t have central air and our house isn’t set up for heat pumps.. not unless we installed 5 of them, which is not happening. Our window units only cool certain rooms and only down to a certain level of comfort. With the outdoor temperature at 104 degrees, moving furniture was not comfortable.
.

.
But it was done.
.

.
Slowly and carefully.
.

.
I hope the new carpet is worth it.
.
I wonder if “open concept” home design developed after someone got frustrated moving furniture through narrow hallways.

I wouldn’t doubt it. But our house had an addition built 20 years after the original construction… hence the sharp turns.

The humidity was killing me yesterday. I can usually tolerate it up to a point but holy crap yesterday was brutal. I can’t imagine also moving furniture when it’s like that. Great it’s done! Can’t wait for the reveal pictures. 🙂

The humidity has been insane here lately. 86% this morning.
Kill me now.

Well I can say I know how that feels. Moving furniture in 100+ degree heat, I moved into my house in July. The hottest month of the year here in Texas, and the only good thing was, no humidity. I’m sure Mr. River was thinking the same thing, that he hopes the carpet is worth all these moving shenanigans, lol.

As do I…

Sometimes carpet companies will move your furniture for you. I’m at the point where heavy furniture … once out of a room … does not go back in!

Yes, they would have… at $40 per piece.

Houses in New England were built to stay warm, not cool. Whole different ballgame when it’s 104 there! Meanwhile, my little SoCal bungalow gets pretty cold in the winter, what with the vents designed for wind to go under the house in the crawl space. You could always find the coolest places by where the big dog was lying.

I feel like that big dog… searching for a cool spot.

If it’s that hot, why is your husband wearing pants and long sleeves?

The man is nuts, honestly he is. He says it keeps the bugs and flies from biting him… but I garden in a tank top and loose shorts and come close to passing out.
Maybe it’s his age. He definitely feels the cold more now.
