Day lilies are popping.
.

.
And they’re such a great burst of color…

.
I wish they were at least week lilies.

Here today.

Gone tomorrow.

Good thing there are a plethora of buds.

We have day lilies but they aren’t as robust as yours. Then there’s your yard. Very nice and well kept, I’m impressed.

Thanks.
It’s a whole lotta work, but we love it.

They were gloriously vibrant here for a couple of weeks, but all gone now. I miss them already.

Wouldn’t it be nice if they bloomed all summer?

Yes.

Those are quite nice, orange being my favorite color. A lily could not last a day here. Here in Arizona we have the Palo Verde trees for a time with their yellow flowers and green bark that pop against the blue skies.

We visited Sedona in January and I loved it, but I could never take the summer temps.

Someone introduced Palo Verde trees on our blocks about 15 yrs ago and they started a fad. About 10 homes have them now. I’d like one too.

Those exact lillies last very many days around here… easily a week+, maybe 3 weeks… I don’t really pay attention cause they’re so common.
After a long rainy season, I still haven’t gotten in the habit of watering, so my oriental lillies died without blooming.

Wow. Wish ours lasted that long.

I dunno… they’re special to you, whereas I no longer like the orange ones.

What happens if you cut them and put them in a vase? Do they last or just shrivel up?

They die immediately. Not a good cut flower…

I have to disagree with River, at least where the orange ones are concerned. I’ve always found that if I cut a stem with many buds on it, they open nicely in a vase of water as if they were still planted. Of course, now that we have cats, I don’t bring any flowers in the house anymore, especially lilies. Maybe River and I have different varieties (or maybe hers just really resent being cut – haha).

That’s odd. I’ve never had luck cutting them. Maybe I wait too long…
