Lord Dudley Mountcatten heard something in the woodchuck burrow .
.

.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten investigated.
.

.
On the other end of the woodchuck burrow?
.

.
A woodchuck.
Lord Dudley Mountcatten switched sides and waited on that end.
.

.
Which meant a woodchuck popped up on the first side.
.

.
So His Lordship switched sides again and waited.
.

.
And finally, after Lord Dudley’s servant was tired of standing in the heat and about to drag him back in the house….
.

.
Interspecies communication.
Disclaimer – no woodchucks (or cats!) were harmed in the making of this blog.

Oh, great timing. Guess what I saw wandering in my backyard this morning for the first time in over a year?! Yes, apparently our woodchuck is back.

Yay!
They like broccoli, carrots and watermelon.

Do not listen to Rivergirl! Do not feed the chucks! 😀 Tara’s garden will be destroyed in no time.
Our chuck is very healthy looking and happily munching weeds. My cucumber plant so far has survived. 😎

Our chucks aren’t eating anything in my garden this time of year. They’re only destructive early in the season here…

You have a much larger yard than we do. I would probably give them scraps too if I had the space. 😀

What do you think they were saying to each other?

The way they look at each other is adorable.
And yes, describing yourself as his servant is quite accurate. 😂

Great photo log, River! Hope peace continues to reign.

Theyve shared the yard since Spring. They should be used to each other, even if only by scent.

This is such a cool sequence…not sure it’s communication, especially as intraspecies communication is such a battle, especially for cats. We have a fox that comes to our backdoor every night (for supper) – our cat is ambivalent about it…

We have a pair of foxes who visit every night as well. Our cat is scared of them and hides under the bed if he sees them…

Let’s see some photos! Are they the same as UK foxes?

I thought Dudley would swat at him or the chuck would hide, but they seemed content to just… be.
