.
Our Cooper’s hawk was back on the deck railing yesterday and this time he was in full hunting mode.
.

.
The dreaded red squirrel pair were spotted and my fingers were crossed.
.

.
If anyone can rid me of that menace, it’s the hawk.
.

.
On high alert, scouting the bushes where they were hiding.
.

.
The hawk sat there, patiently waiting for movement.
.

.
And then, a strike!
.

.
That sadly came up empty.
Hawk – 0.
Red squirrel demons – 1.
🥺
.
Man, that hawk looks angry!!

They do seem to have a permanent scowl. I like to think of it as more a look of intensity…

He is on a mission. If you’re ever going to get rid of the red squirrel, this is a good way for it to happen.

I hope this war doesn’t last as long as Putin’s War, or get as vicious as Netan’yahoo’s War. The hawk’s attention may be turned to easier prey. And that could destroy River’s Wildlife Protection Area.

Everyone has to eat.
And if he has to, it might as well be her.

She will be the hardest of the lot to catch. She knows your space like she knows her own nest.
8f the hawk dines, it will probably be on a less prepared victim.

Maybe I could paint a target on her back, you know… to help.

You’d have to catch her first. She has evaded you for what, at least 8 years? Good luck with that.

They don’t live that long so it’s actually a multiple generational assault.

Ted said he had to paid more than usual because the “target” is more crafty than he first thought. Hunter is working on it, especially know knowing where she hides.

If he doesn’t catch them, maybe he’ll at least scare them away!

That would work.

With your luck,he will catch the wrong one and your troublemaker will take its revenge.

I’m reminded of when me and my friend were troublemaking kids and we’d sit in the opposing bleachers at his big sister’s softball games to root for her team, angering their fans…..

Grey squirrels, yes.
Red menace squirrel, no!

It seems counterintuitive, but I wonder if they make grey hair dye? You’d never know the difference!

Unless they remove her teeth and claws, I’d know.

Wow, the red squirrel is like Donald Trump: made a deal with the devil and now has 9 lives.
