Filets are the only steak my husband will eat and they are not inexpensive when dining out. I’d rather not pay for glue…
😡
well now. i consider myself a little better informed about some things i’d rather not actually know. 😉

Glued together fillets…I remember reading about places that cut/punch scallops out of fish. I’m not sure asking the waiter would help.

Yes. They used to try and pass off chunks of shark for sea scallops. No true Mainer was fooled…

Since reading “Remarkably Bright Creatures” (and if you haven’t read it, please treat yourself, it’s a wonderful book) I have become fascinated with octopuses – they are indeed remarkably bright creatures!

I just ordered that from Amazon yesterday!

You will laugh, you will cry – It’s wonderful, I’ve read it twice and now I want to red it again! I did a post about it…

I’ve never cooked a pizza on a volcano, but I did bake a coffee cake in a natural reflector oven between rock slabs in the mountains. Does that count?
Since filet mignon is a slice of the psoas muscle, which naturally has that shape, it sounds like the glued meat is fraud – different (cheaper) cuts entirely, as there is little or nothing left over when a psoas is cut into filets. (I used to work in a restaurant that cut its own filets from whole tenderloins (the meat name for the psoas muscle).)

Filets cut from the tenderloin are the only way I want them. No superglue allowed.

An octopus civilization? Yeah, sure, I’ll give them a few short years before they destroy it with their own version of TicToc.

Aw man, looks like i won’t eat that cut of meat ever again 🤢

At least, having seen the whole tenderloin, I know my own husband doesn’t use meat glue when he makes beef Wellington?

I’m not for meat glue, either! Yikes.

Which is worse? Scraps glued together to make a fake filet mignon, or Spam?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Both are bad, but I’ve got to go with Spam being more horrible.

I’m sure MidwestMark will have to differ – as will I, since Spam doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is.

But what it is, is awful.

I’m a horrible sleeper. I’d probably wake up in the middle of the hibernation period and wander around lonely and hungry with no one to talk to (because y’all are sleeping). I’ll pass.

You mean by them, or by me? By the way, can you way in on Spam vs glued meat? I didn’t mean to speak for you.

I think Mark’s affinity for that particular abomination is well known. He’s cuckoo for the stuff.

By them. And I would say Spam is 100x more appetizing than glued meat!
