.
We never know how many deer are going to arrive in our backyard on any given night…
.

.
Could be two, could be ten.
.

.
They always show up at dusk so pardon the poor quality photos with reflections from the windows.
.

.
When the snow starts to pile up?
.

.
So do the deer.
Fourteen was the count when I took these photos.

Lucky!!!
After months without raccoons in my backyard, they reappeared last week. I’d prefer deer!

I love raccoons! We have a few now and then in the summer.

I used to like them but rabies + aggression turned me off them. I still enjoy the skunks and opossum.

Wow. You could sell tickets! There are deer on our golf course, but we almost never see them. We’re as likely to see coyotes as deer – and both are infrequent.

A few weeks ago I was hearing coyotes almost every night… and didn’t see any deer. Now the coyotes are gone and the herd is back.

That is so cool. We have deer in the woods behind the house, but they rarely come close because of my dogs. The dogs can’t get to them, but they tend to make too much noise for their comfort.

Our neighbor has a large dog and if he’s outside? The deer stay in the woods. Our cat isn’t enough of a threat…

I have a few formerly feral cats that hang out back. I’ve watched them watch the deer down in the woods. But then, I’ve also watched them share their food with a neighboring possum but not racoon.

We had a braver than smart cat years ago who actually chased the deer. It was hilarious to watch…

I get confused which is dawn and which is dusk. 🙄

I wonder what attracts them so? Do they prefer on shrub over another? A lack of dog, a sand box in the right corner?

In the summer they come for blueberries, in the fall they come for the apples. During the winter they used to raid and break our bird feeders… so now we put out sweet grain.

I’ve never seen that many live deer in my life. All the wildlife here is urban…

About ten years ago we had a backyard herd of 25. This is the largest we’ve seen since…

I never quite realize just how many deer frequent our yard until I see all their tracks in the snow the next morning.

After a fresh snow our backyard looks like an I-95 interchange.

That is fabulous! We have mule deer who walk through the wash behind our house. I’ve never more than three. It’s always so exciting to see them.

What a lovely scene. I’ve never seen so many deer at one time. I realize they would eat everything we have planted, but I do like seeing them.

They very rarely eat things we don’t want them to. During one very harsh winter they nibbled shrubs, but they never eat my flowers for which I’m grateful.

How fun to watch them play! And cheaper then keeping the television going.

Oh, if my husband is home… the tv is on.
I’d rather watch the deer.
