.
Look who’s back!
.

.
I spotted our first woodchuck yesterday.
.

.
And immediately tossed out some lettuce and broccoli to welcome the little guy back.
.

.
I’m saying little guy but it might be a girl. I only know it doesn’t look like our old momma chuck of years past.
.

.
She’s been around for a long time and sadly, I think it’s time for the next generation to take over.
.
Welcome home.

I’m not sure he (she?) ever left …
But yes.

Seems the one that usually birthes next door is now under my deck. Tucker is obsessed with getting at her, and one day will get stuck in the gap.
I saw it, little pointy nose sticking out. Looks like yours!!
And so it begins once again.

Every year momma chuck has 4 or 5, so it’s always a surprise to see how many stuck around.

Aww. My dog would love to chase that. Fortunately, there is an urban substitute to drive my dog into a frenzy: the possum. I’ve even seen a momma carrying babies a couple times along the fencetop…

The tiny babies clinging to the mom are incredibly cute. The dog, however, is immune.

Aww, sad to hear that maybe Momma Chuck is not coming back. But glad to see one of her offspring coming to nosh on the buffet you set out for them.

I won’t write her off yet, she’s a tough old bird. But still…. she’s lived a long life for a chuck .

What beautiful photos of your woodchuck. I think we’re on the same page. I just wrote and scheduled a post for tomorrow morning about my buddy Red.

I need to catch my 2 can make the trip to Maine or they will be digging into my fresh lettuce as it begins to grow here. Maybe with Brady here they will move on.

I don’t have a vegetable garden, but there are certain flowers I can’t plant now. Forget petunias… they jump up on the patio table to munch those.
