.
Finished with the interior tour of Doris Duke’s Rough Point estate, we headed outside.
.

.
Where the clouds made a dramatic backdrop.
.

.
Doris loved it here…
.

.
And I have to say…
.

.
I understand why.
.

.
The location is perfect.
.

.
The views of the Atlantic Ocean divine.
.

.
It’s an impressive place to be sure.
.

.
Strolling around the side, we found a gated garden.
.

.
With a warning sign.
.

.
Does everyone have bunnies but me?
😫
.

.
At the front of the estate…
.

.
Wired topiaries of Doris’s pet camels.
.

.
They’re filled with succulents that hadn’t quite greened up yet.
.

.
And over there?
.

.
The formal garden that I had to explore.
.

.
Bit disappointing, that.
.

.
Not formal and nothing blooming in its one small bed.
.

.
The hedge was the best part.
.

.
No matter, it’s still a lovely place to stroll.
And as we were pulling out of the driveway? We passed a time appropriate vehicle.
.

.
😊
.
Now that you’ve given us the front view of the house, I think the exterior was used in the Netflix version of The House On Haunted Hill. Because it looks oddly familiar, but anyway thanks for the tour! Those camel topiaries are pretty impressive. The garden was too, but did you see any bunnies?

We did not.
Even after the warning…

I’m with you on the (not) formal garden. But everything else looks lovely. And I see rabbits out here on my walks, so, yeah, I guess everyone else does have bunnies. What’s up with that, Maine?

Our long time native bunny, the New England cottontail, is an endangered species due to habitat loss and competition for resources from the Eastern Cottontail that was introduced in the early 20th century for hunting.
I’ve lived here on and off since 1978 and never seen one.

Boo! I hope the New England cottontail makes a comeback.

Not likely, but so do I…

All that wildlife in your backyard but no bunnies? I’m surprised! Maybe there’s too much competition.

I would have hesitated at the hedge, assuming spiders everywhere (even though that’s more of an autumn thing).
I wanna ride in that car!!

Did you at least go in and look for Bunnies?
