Having a dog generally means walking a dog, which leads to a less sedentary lifestyle and more human interaction. Both of which improve your overall health, especially as you age. But what’s a longer life without cats?!

Agreed. We had two catless years and while traveling was a lot easier, I wasn’t happy.

I am team Dog, so for dementia thing, I would say, Yay!
Not sure how many pups my late dog fathered. He never told me.
All the world needs now is robots growing into mushrooms and cheese, and luring rats and guinea pigs with sex-tooth to father the next generation of robots…Woof!!!

I can see the difference between cats and dogs having owned both. Dogs are very needy and demand attention. They can’t survive on their own without you engaging with them. Cats on the other hand…

I have a feeling a cat might not help with dementia because with their stand offness one would be wondering, “Did that really happen?” whereas with a dog, they are all over you and you remember!

I always feel the biggest effect having a cat has on a person is on his self-esteem, as she looks down upon him from her throne on the top of the cupboard and declines to come down for anything except a meal 🤣
