I guess you don’t have CWD (chronic wasting disease) in Maine. Here, it is illegal to feed deer, as congregating around feeding sites spreads the disease.

It’s not illegal here, though probably frowned upon. I buy special deer grain formulated for winter feeding, no corn. We’ve had a herd for 23 years running and they’re always healthy. I just put two dishes out for a nibble, a treat. They’re not surviving on it. They come in and raid our bird feeders anyway, might as well nosh on something better for them.
