.
The snow is getting deeper but our lone little opossum is still visiting.
.

.
When he gets scared or spots us in the window he runs for the woodshed.
.

.
Climbing what must look like Mount Everest to a marsupial.
.

.
He prefers melting snow that reveals grass and a few puddles from which to drink.
.

.
Yes, they’re good to have around.
.

.
And though they’re pretty humble looking creatures…
.

.
We like Percy and wish him the best.
.
And the weird fact that the O is silent…right? We call them Possums. Hoping that’s not just us.

Everyone does, including me… but they’re actually two distinct animals. The opossum is a North American marsupial with a pointy face and the O should be pronounced. The possum is an Australian marsupial with a round face, no O.
I write it correctly but still named him Percy Possum.

Cute! We’ve never had one hang around like that. We have a “pet” woodchuck though. 😉

We have a long time woodchuck resident. She lives under our barn and has babies every year. Which I blog about endlessly…

Percy is adorable. We call ours Polly, but we haven’t seen her in a while. We’ve seen her footprints in the snow, but not her.

It’s rare for ours to be out during daylight. They must be extra hungry.

Percy is adorable! And love the name as well, lol. He looks like a good little fella, I sure hope he’s keeping warm.

We haven’t figured out if he’s living under the barn or in the shed. But he’s close by.

Percy is very cute. how do you know Percy is “he” and not a “she”. thanks for sharing the facts – such lovely little fellows yet they get such a bad rap – that for setting things straight.

I have no idea if it’s a boy or girl. But it shall remain Percy until it proves differently.

We had always have at least one Petunia Possum visiting our yard. They love the compost pile for rotting fruit with extra bugs.

A veritable opossum buffet.

Another fact about them? They drive Doggo nuts when they’re on the fence or in the yard.

They are masters at playing dead, just like a lazy 13-year-old.
