.
I don’t know why my husband likes to work in the rain.
.

.
But he tried to apply sealant to the newly sanded barn porch in the drizzle, until it turned into a full blown shower and he had to quit.
.

.
The next day was cool, but dry
.

.
For a while.
.

.
But just as he was finishing, the sky began to darken.
And rain moved in again.
.

.
And lest you think I didn’t help…
.

.
When the sun came out the day after, I sealed the steps and porch skirting.
Unlike my spouse, I don’t work outside in the rain.
.
I love those steps. I need them off my back deck.
My deck badly needs to be re-floored and I would love to have the engineered wood. It would cost an arm and a leg, but adding up the price of treated wood plus sealer yearly, would balance the price a bit.

That’s what I wanted on the barn, but the husband bucked and said he wanted to keep it rustic. Sigh.

It’s terribly pricey but should last forever.

I’ve driven thousands of nails into crazy expensive houses but I don’t think I could build that barn, Good job.

It’s the first thing he ever built from scratch. And while there are a few chuckle worthy boo boos… he did an amazing job.

Not that much of an improvement, but necessary.

I always try to help. My husband says no 95% of the time.

I feel like the rain is not an appropriate time to apply anything that has to dry, like paint or sealant, but what do I know?

More than my husband.

I don’t mind doing yard work in the rain (not that we’ve had much at all this month). It makes pulling weeds easier.

I’m giggling! He probably was just hyperfocused on getting this project finished, rain be damned!
