This first one is mistitled.

You certainly can name your child after a U.S. state…
But in most cases you probably shouldn’t.

I’m a solid 20%-er. The service has to be atrocious for me to leave less… though I’ve been known to tip 100% at diners with great wait staff.

.
My husband has a childhood friend who can’t speak a sentence without uttering Maine’s favorite, so I won’t argue with this one.

They should have this map at the dentist’s office that ripped me off for a clearance letter. They were shocked I had all mine.

I’ve never been, so I can’t comment. Though ‘birds that scream at you’ sounds like an interesting place…

Damn it.
I just gave myself an ear worm.

I think there’s a bit of overlap between “make you feel all right” and “keep their boyfriends warm at night”. I’m especially looking at northern MN. And is “bruh” swearing anywhere?

Forget bruh, I had to look up pinche and it just means lousy. Clearly NM needs a lesson in cursing.

Pinche is a bit more risqué than bruh, from what I know. Go a bit farther south and it might be chingar instead of pinche.

Had to look that one up too. But at least it fits the category…

I knew a woman named Wyoming. Her parents were hippies; she was born in the back of a bus in Yellowstone National Park, though I guess they couldn’t bring themselves to call her Yellowstone. She was a little odd, bringing kombucha and brown rice for lunch and wearing so much jewelry she clanked when she walked. But later she legally changed her name to Wynona. I didn’t ask why, but I thought both names suited her.

I have never met anyone named “Maine.” It certainly isn’t a name I would choose for a child.

Mark Lindsay proved that Arizona is a perfectly fine name.

The Beach Boys map made me lol. The Curse Word map made me curse. I align proudly with the NY-New England community as to what Pennsylvania should be. I don’t think I ever met anyone whose name was a state. That doesn’t sound like a sound concept, but I did see Dakota in the comments and that name works for me…as long as you don’t throw the North or South in front of it.

There’s a Kardashian named North.

Surprised and disappointed to learn that Washingtonians are cheap bastards. Thank god I left when I did! (I’m a 25% guy.)

I guess they forgot about Nevada Smith! California was named after a mythological (and I believe lesbian) queen. They have nothing to swear about in Hawaii, trust me. They’re very laid back.

They eat a lot of SPAM. That alone would make me curse.
