.
I spotted our resident Cooper’s hawk hanging out under the flowering plum tree the other day.
.

.
It’s close to the bird feeders so you know he was there looking for lunch.
.

.
A few minutes later I spotted the husband taking a picture of something.
.

.
It was a baby red squirrel and it was scared to death.
.

.
Probably of the hawk.
.

.
So scared it clung to the husband’s slipper and had to be pried off and tucked under a shrub for safety.
.
Awwwww. Saving a baby red squirrel is heartwarming.

As long as it doesn’t chew its way inside anything, yes.

Oh, wow. I’ve never seen such a thing. To be so petrified that it overcomes your fear of humans! I’m so glad your husband saved it.

So glad the squirrel found your husband! Poor little buddy. (The squirrel, of course.)

My husband is the guy that stops on the side of the road to help the turtle cross.

Isn’t that one of the squirrel breeds that causes you all sorts of problems when they’re adults?

He must have a kind soul for that baby to trust him 🥰

Poor squirrel looks terrified. He chose your husband over the hawk.

Can’t blame him there.

Saving a baby squirrel…priceless. Sometimes I forgot ours were that size at one time!

Circle of life notwithstanding, I’m glad this was one red squirrel you decided not to wage war against.
