Good neighbors, good husbands and bad bruising.

.

On day 8 post partial knee replacement…. our neighbor delivered a home cooked meal.

.

.

This was a lovely gesture and much appreciated.

.

.

It was also delicious.

The husband has been wonderful this past week helping me navigate recovery, though admittedly he was getting a little bored.

Luckily he has a wife with ideas.

.

.

Yesterday was as good a time as any to change those blinds that have been languishing in boxes for the past few weeks.

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten helped, as cats are apt to do.

.

.

We tried to come close to the color of the previous set…. ⬆️

.

.

But weren’t even close.

These are much lighter but as long as they block the sun, we’ll deal.

In other news my swollen leg’s bruising has ratcheted up a notch.

.

.

And I’m sporting some deep dark purple, dare I say aubergine, sections now.

🥴

  1. Wow! That’s a nice colour scheme.! And I’m not talking about your living room … though of course, it does look very nice. 😉🤣
I hope your recovery process is short and smooth. That can’t be much fun.

  2. Sorry but I laughed at your leg – only because the shock was familiar. While most of my bruises made sense, some left me wondering what the hell they’d been doing with my leg during surgery.

Another experience: the skin on my knee was darker than the rest of my leg for a long time. I doubt anyone else would notice but it bugged me, mainly cause I couldn’t see any reason for it.

    Has sensation returned yet??

The blinds look great! I’m envious about the good food!

    1. I’m starting to get that discoloration as well. I read that it can be increased blood supply to an area that’s healing but I plan to ask the doc at my first check up.
The inside of my leg is still pretty numb from knee to ankle. Outside is okay.
The dinner was yummy and an incredibly nice gesture. I loved that she included a menu card.

      1. I think my feeling returned on the inside of my leg first, but I’m not sure. I only remember getting a bit of sensation, then it feeling weird for awhile… like super minor tingling… then it was all back, except the kneecap. Topical sensation never returned to my kneecap, but that makes sense with scar tissue and cut nerves – but I no longer notice.

Temps dropped tonight and my knee is being a bitch. Not pain so much as just not working as well as when it’s warmer… stiffer than usual. I now recall that I was thinking a knee warmer would be a good idea. I don’t deal with anything close to your sub-zero temps, so definitely plan ahead for keeping your knee warm!!!!

      2. For the past 6 years the damp weather made my knee ache. I’m interested to see if that’s still the case.
And most of my numbness is because the nerve block hasn’t worn off yet. I admit I’m nervous about it disappearing.

  3. Ick!!!! How colorful!!! Bruising is so weird. You never know what it’s going to do. As I get older, my flesh tends to bruise at the slightest touch…especially when I scratch a mosquito bite in my sleep. I get some really interesting coloring. lol

  4. What a nice neighbor! The bruising will disappear! I still have aches in my right hip but each day is better. During the operation, I heard they used a lot of things. Afterwards, one of the nurses laughed and said as I was laying in the interim, “You wouldn’t want to see the tools they used on you!” Eeh ya.

  5. That bruising is terrible! Hope it looks worse that it feels. Such wonderful neighbors! I, too, am the idea person in our house. I come up with the ideas, and it’s up to Clif to put them into action. 😉
