No….
My husband didn’t clean out the basement.
Or the barn.
I’m not talking miracles here.
But finally…
After watching, feeding and photographing the deer in our backyard for the past 17 years?
A doe brought her fawn!
Bambi made an appearance.
And isn’t that just the sweetest?
Fawns are the cutest things you can cook in a little butter and garlic and garnish with a sprig of parsley…

So we are fawning over a fawn this morning. OK … I think I can do that.

Yes. And I hope to fawn frequently in the near future as well.

I want to live where you live! We have deer in the neighborhood, so I should be content. But I’ve never had a fawn in my yard.

The odd thing is, neither have we. 17 years of nightly visits, sometimes full herds… but never a fawn until now. I’m bizarrely thrilled.

You get the cutest animals visit! I just get possums, roof rats and ravens.

We get all 3 of those as well. Not as many opossums lately though..

Beautiful! My grandmother had a pair of twins born on her farm one year. I can’t believe it took 17 years!

Well, usually the deer were here in the fall and winter. We rarely saw them during spring and summer. Then we had an injured doe who stayed all year so we kept feeding her. Now a few of them have stayed through the summer… so, a fawn!

The deer daycare center must have been closed…
