.
While all the frenzied work in the barn has been consuming my husband’s mind and time?
.
.
This was happening inside our house.
.
.
Yet another roof leak.
.
.
We have walked the roof.
We have climbed into the attic.
We have replaced our chimney insert.
We have tarred, caulked, shingled, flashed and yes, swore repeatedly…. but still can’t figure out where it’s coming in.
.
.
Back in ’94 before we owned the home, a bump out addition was added to the living room…
.
.
And what I’m assuming is a load bearing beam… is where the rain always breaks through.
.
.
It’s beyond aggravating.
.
.
Not to mention ugly.
So back in the attic crawl space we went. Of course this means all the husband’s junk must be vomited from the den closet first.
.
.
And there’s a lot of junk.
.
.
Anyone need some slightly dated reading material?
.
.
This time the attic investigation revealed two possible spots on the roof where water could be getting in. Husband is guessing 3 squares of shingles will have to be replaced. But winter is upon us, and it’s not going to be a pleasant task.
Wish us luck.

Two recommendations:
1. Turn your living room into an indoor pool.
2. Give all your Perry Mason books to me

I’m fine with number 2, but I’m really not much of a swimmer.

Yes, but it’s so hard to vacuum around.

Holey roof leak Batman!! Well, at least the hubs is on it. Taking time out from decorating his man cave that is.

So I don’t really ‘like’ this post, but you know what I mean. Any chance you could plug the leak with the Perry Mason book? Two birds…

If I could plug leaks with my husband’s junk? Life would be so much easier…

That’s one helluva leak! But an indoor pool does sound nice.

Sorry. Winter is the worst time to find leaks. I don’t want to suggest this, but…squirrels like to eat flashing, particularly at the corners. It helps them grind down their teeth. Might be worth a look, even though you already did (I’m assuming earlier).

We’ve looked everywhere outside and never found a hole. But it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if that bitch was responsible!!

I hear Maine just had a major snow storm, which is no doubt contributing to (if not the cause of) the problem. My advice is to clear the snow away from the area around the leak and plug the hole(s) with as many sticks of gum as you can chew without dislodging a tooth. If that doesn’t work, get back to me and I’ll come ‘up’ with an even better idea (if that’s possible).

We didn’t get much snow, just sleet and ice.

Diane Capri? I read the first few of those but didn’t care for them.

Roof leaks ~> ACK!
If the weather is really bad, maybe you should just tarp the area until Spring.
My parents LOVED Perry Mason books AND the TV show. We would have homemade pizza and watch Perry, Della, and Paul every week. So maybe Perry is one of the reasons I went to law school.

I don’t think there’s a tarp made that can withstand the fierce wind we get here. It’s going to be a mess.

Yeah, good luck finding a roofer that will only do three squares (yes, I know how much a square is in the roofing world) and a partial roof.

My husband actually worked as a roofer when he was young. He shingles all our buildings.

Then you need more than luck.

He did our garage, barn, wood shed, porch and baby barn without issue. This leak is in the house which he didn’t do, but might have to soon.

Wow, your husband is truly a pack-rat! You should make him tote all that stuff out to his “barn.” At least he is handy around the house, that’s a plus. By the way, your house is so pretty!

He’s the King of Pack Rats…. and in true rat fashion never gets rid of anything. No matter how useless.
