You never know what part of the house cats will gravitate toward. We’ve had desk felines..
.
.
Bed felines….
.
.
Chair felines….
.
.
Even motorcycle felines.
.
.
And now it looks like our newest addition has chosen my mother’s old bookcase.
.
.
Yes, Lord Dudley Mountcatten has laid claim to this spot in our bedroom window.
.
.
From it he can recline in the warmth of the sun….
.
.
And hover over the birds who seek shelter in the bushes directly underneath.
.
.
I think I’m going to have to remove that planter. It seems to be migrating closer to the edge everyday.
.
Yeppers. My first thought was that planter was going to get removed by somebody … and if you wanted to keep in in one piece, that somebody had better be you …

It’s on the floor right now. Thankfully put there in one piece by me….

Oddly enough he only gets up there during the day.

Cats are indeed literary creatures which would explain why so many writers have had cats.
They’re also solar-powered which is why that window spot is so perfect.

Ha! Solar powered…. he did have an energetic go at his mouse after that nap so you may be on to something.
On a side note I still can’t comment on your posts, get an error message every time.

Babies! Love those pix!
Lord Mountcatten is wondering why catnip was not provided in the planter you removed.

He has a catnip pouch, a catnip mouse and a catnip duck. Never fear, he’s well nipped.

I signed a contract to cater to his every whim. If I back out he gets the house.

He does appear to be in command of that space.

He commands quite a bit of space now.

When he came in to rent the place the planter was not in his way–now it is–and now with all he is paying he wants his space!!

The only rent he’s paying is being scooped out of a litter box.

It’s nice that he has all those books handy to read when he tires of looking out the window. I trust that among them are CAT IN A HAT, CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, and MY LIFE IN A CAT HOUSE.

Well no, but there is a James Herriot book in there….

He seems to love watching out the window while doing his sunbathing. He’s such a handsome fellow 😸

I was thinking the same thing about the vase. Keep it in one pi8.

I haven’t heard much about that squirrel. Did the cats manage to get rid of it?

Haven’t seen her in a while. She might be hibernating, but I’m hoping for dead.

Mmhm. Our Catticus does a chair sit like your chair cat did. It’s rather regal as it looks intentional, like I’m a very serious cat and I’d like to speak to you about treatseses.
Must move the pretty. I had a lovely hand-carved mango bowl. Had it for years. Catticus decided it got too much sun and knocked it from atop a tall chest, where it broke in two and I swear he smiled when I found him there, sprawling where the mango bowl had been.
Having learned my lesson, Cletus’s perch is a cat pillow where normal people would place a pretty. In our case, Cletus is the pretty. Occasionally, he knocks off the pretties adjacent to his perch and then zooms around the house in terror. I will share his perch photo sometime.

Lord Dudley has the run of the house but is not allowed on the kitchen counters, the dining tables and the bedroom bureaus. Naturally these are his 3 favorite places. He only gets on them when we’re not home. Smart cat.
