.
Even with the drought we’re experiencing, the Rhodies were magnificent this year.
.

.
And the Barn Mahal porch has color coordinated pots of pretties as well. I find orange and yellow really pop against the red.
.

.
This little petunia almost looks painted.
.

.
Whether it will survive the woodchuck onslaughter is another matter entirely.
.

.
Do you have a bed where all the leftovers end up?
.

.
This is mine. A mini bed by the bulkhead doors where my first ever gay feather is getting ready to bloom…. and the neighboring hostas have launched an invasion.
.

.
Love this combination Lantana.
.

.
When the woodchucks decimated my gardens 2 years ago I searched for flowers they hated and planted them. Foxglove? Check!
.

.
Astilbe? Healthy and woodchuck nibble free.
Did you know astilbe is also called False Goat’s Beard? What’s up with that… are there goats who need to travel incognito?
.

.
Apparently, yes. Yes there are.
.
Do moth balls do any good? Most animals hate the smell…..

They’re very dangerous for cats.

” really pop against the red.” RED????? What red???? Except for flowers I don’t see red!!!!

Barn red. It’s the only appropriate red for well dressed barns….

Oh that motherchucker (literally) seems to be waiting in the wings for you to go to bed at night.

But they’re not normally nocturnal….

Those Rhodies are so beautiful and remind me of my childhood. We had large bushes of both light and dark purple ones. Glad your chucks are leaving well enough alone the the garden once you tailored their “menu” to be not to their liking.

It’s funny what they will and will not eat. Petunias? They pull off all the blooms. Mallow? Chew them down to the ground. Geraniums? Won’t touch them.

So is dressing a goat less or more dangerous than bathing a cat ? Asking for a friend. The flowers are lovely ! Wish I could say the same for the kid going trick or treating !

I have never personally dressed a goat, so I’m afraid I can’t comment.

I hope the chunk leaves the flowers alone, they are beautiful.

Thankfully they don’t like rhododendron.

I’m excited to have rhodies in my yard again, once I arrive in Vermont. Grew up with them growing everywhere in western WA, along with azaleas. Yours are gorgeous, as are all the flowers!

In Vermont you’ll probably have mountain laurel as well.

Do you have a gardener???
If not, how do you find time to do all that you do in the home and yard and blogosphere . . . and still find time to drink????
And read.
And travel around shopping for bar stools and pool tables and . . . whatev.
Do you have a clone?
Is that it?
