.
Every night at dusk, the skunks show up.
.

.
It’s usually too dark to take pictures through the window, but last week they arrived early.
.

.
And trust me, they really are fun to watch.
.

,
Of course, sometimes….
.

.
They don’t get along.
.

.
And it’s on!
.

.
There’s a lot of squealing….
.

.
A lot of posturing and tail raising..
.

.
But more often than not….
.

.
They settle in and eat side and side.
.

.
No air freshener required.
.

.
And though it’s not riveting footage, here’s a little skunk video for your viewing pleasure.
.
.

I love skunks!
In theory, anyway. Not so much in person.

From a distance, or with a gas mask, they’re perfectly lovely .

They make good pets – scent glands removed of course

Maine used to allow that , but it’s illegal now. I’d love to cuddle a skunk!

Your skunks have a lot of white!!!
Around 1am I heard a cat cry and ran out to see if everyone was okay… and almost ran into a skunk on the porch!
I don’t think it’s what caused the cry. All kitties seemed fine.

Skunks will squeal when fighting. Sounds like a baby, or a piglet. And yes, a few of ours are almost all white. It’s weird.

Yes, I’ve had lots of skunk fights occur in my backyard. I prefer when they do stompy feet!

They’re sooo cute. Wish it was still legal to de-scent them and have a pet.

Skunks have a bad reputation but I like ’em. I always think about the time at camp when one kid said he had a rat living under his cabin and we all went in to look at it. Then he said it was a white rat and I thought, “Why would a white rat be out in the woods?” at about the same moment he yelled, “Oh, it’s a skunk!” And we all ran out. The skunk came out too and just looked at us before it went on its way. Luckily it was so used to people we didn’t upset it.

They’re adorable and I love to watch them. They waddle when they run.

I haven’t stayed around one long enough to admire their skunking fluffiness!! Those tails 😍 🦨! I could picture the beautiful Momma Deer who used to graze that area with her baby. 😢

Sorry to say the neighbors have the fawns this year.

Aw. Well, I’ve got a Momma and 3 babies {I’ve never seen one with 3 before} near me and I was fortunate to see them last week!

Those coats and tails! You can see why they evolved the spray. What delightful fluffballs! And send me to the nuttery, but at 20 seconds on that video, when the tail goes up – what a lovely sight!
