Gulp… Part 3.

.

Let’s jump right in shall we?

Spit. If you read this book you’ll learn more about it than you ever dreamed possible.

.

.

I hope so too Mary.

Yikes!

.

.

A new stomach lining every three days?

Color me impressed.

Did I mention this book has some rather odd photographs?

.

.

I just finished a section devoted to the myth of Jonah and the Whale… as well as other improbable stories of surviving inside a stomach after someone has swallowed you. Spoiler alert- they’re all hogwash, it’s impossible. But Mary offers some handy advice all the same.

I suppose there worse places to live than in a penguin.

  1. Being a penguin lover all my life, I’ve always wondered how mothers bring fresh fish to there hatchling weeks away from the coast. At last I know, and very ingenious of them to evolve travelling refridgerstotrs way before humans had to invent them, and our’s still don’t travel all that we’ll as theirs!

      1. I used to live in Vancouver (BC). They had a penguin pool back then. Some Emporer’s and some others I cannot remember the nsmes of. Every day I went to sit with them, and every day the old man of the c group came out and sat on the same rock, He and I sat together, a raised rail in between, and spent time together hour after hour some days. What he thought about don’t know, but he calmed me down on bad days. It worked for me.

      2. The little guys are hard to spend quality time with. The ones in that site were always moving, eating, swimming and playing. The Emperors were more stately, as their names suggest. They had fun, but they also took time to contemplate the world around them. I wanted so badly to communicate with them, and get their side of the story.

  2. If I remember correctly the ship in Fantastic Voyage avoided the stomach, and good thing too–the movie would have had a much darker ending if they hadn’t. The same isn’t so true for a villain in the movie Innerspace.
But I’m again amazed at how innovative penguins are. It’s more than enough to make me forgive them for inventing the tuxedo.
