I love this time of year in Maine. It’s warm but not hot, we have ample rain and things are blooming everywhere you look.
.

.
Pansies are always the first things I plant in pots. They’re frost tolerant and because that can still happen at the end of May here … they’re a safe bet.
.

.
Lilacs!
.

.
We have two massive bushes that reach for the sky… taller than our roof. It’s fabulous!
.

.
One white, one dark purple. I wish WordPress had Smell o Vision…. because trust me peeps, it is seriously fragrant up in here.
.

.
I planted my annual marigold rotation in front of the mini barn last week.
.

.
And some color coordinated geraniums next to the bulkhead doors.
.
I sure wish I had your green thumb River.

You can. It just takes a lot of time and work… not to mention lots of plants that die and I don’t photograph.

I’m afraid yours would never survive our winters and mine would burn up in your heat..

That’s too bad. Any idea why…?

first it looked like a mini twister went thru it. Then it just started dying off. Now? I think I’ll just cut it all down and hope it grows back. There is some new growth but it will be a LONG time before I have a big beautiful bush there again. I’ll be long gone by then.

They’re extremely slow growers. I planted a little baby five years ago and it may have gained 6 inches.

Beautiful. Everything is so cheery. I just spent a some time and money at the nursery today. Mostly perennials and a shrub. I needed and excuse other than weeding to go play in the dirt. The mild freeze and thaw winter killed a few more than usual this year. Hopefully I won’t have to

Our weather has been crazy and all over the place. I list quite a few perennials as well.

Spring is late here, but when it arrives… you know it’s worth the wait.

We have purple lilacs in the front and back yard, and I agree: that smell is so nice!
