Baby woodchucks are everywhere I look lately, including our kitchen porch. I was about to open the door yesterday when I spotted this little fellow.

.
He scampered around for a bit and then settled in to rest.

Before I knew it?

The little guy was showing me just how much he loved living at Casa River.
If that’s not cute, I don’t know what is.

I have 2 young racoons right now.

We have woodchucks, skunks, raccoons, foxes, deer and ducks that visit every day/night. Never a dull moment with raccoons though. They steal the Oriole’s oranges, drink the hummingbird nectar and drag the suet cages down to the woods. Little devils.

The younger raccoons are funny but F the big ones!
I don’t know the last time I saw a deer or fox!
The lack of water is bringing mountain lions into neighborhoods – but I’m a hood 30miles from their nearest habitat.

It’s sad that Mother Nature has to adapt to our mistakes and misuses… and then we shoot her. Hope the lions survive…

I just slipped into a cute coma. Chuck, my friend, only greets me good morning from his “perch” on the rocks. Now if he could just bring me my coffee!!

Or a cocktail in the evening, yes.

He looks so cute, but maybe he was smelling the wood your porch is made of, you know because he is a woodchuck…..😁.

We’ve had them for a decade and they’ve never chucked any wood.

Actually he was debating whether the house would be tasty or not!

Not.
I vote for not…

Almost makes you want to reach out and pet him. Almost. Mona

No almost about it…. I do want to pet him.

Just as long as he doesn’t pet you back…with his teeth.

That last photo, showing the baby woodchuck kissing wood, suggests the caption “How much wood would a woodchuck kiss if a woodchuck would kiss wood?” The answer probably depends on how soon he becomes the equivalent of a teenage chuck and and starts noticing girl woodchucks.

The silly little bugger closed his eyes and went to sleep that way.

He’s giving Lord Dudley a run for his money for Cutest Critter on your blog.

I won’t tell him you said that.

Either that or he’s humping the door. Which would make him a wood-f (rhymes with chuck) instead.

He’s a bit young for that. I prefer to think of his love as platonic.
