How low can you go? Let’s find out…
.

.
I’ve slept in a few odd places in my day, but this guy wins hands down.
.

.
Snuggled in between the nukes? Not my definition of comfy cozy.
.

.
From ten hours and a nap… to four? That can’t be healthy.
.

.
When it comes to nuclear weapons, I’d prefer the handlers be well rested and a bit more alert thank you.
.

.
Caffeinated jerky? Quick, share it with the submariners.
.
“Psychomotor vigilance” ??? I don’t think I want this tested. I may not do well even after a good night’s sleep.

There are days I don’t function well even with a good 8 hours.

My father was in the Navy and was in the Vietnam War. He was shot at almost daily…
… and, I’m pretty sure he preferred that over submarine duty.

And who could blame him. It’s got to be horrible….

They definitely need to up their recruitment in that demographic.

Sleeping in between nukes isn’t my idea of a place to sleep at all. Neither is food, gum, jerky or mints with caffeine in it either. Although I could use some strong caffeine right now myself, it’s Monday what can I say?

I don’t know how any of them manage to sleep anywhere aboard a sub. I couldn’t..

They should put this in the recruitment advertisements…

Cozy accommodations… and all the radiation you can absorb. Bound to boost enlistment numbers.

No wonder vets who do come home have so many mental health problems. It is bad enough they are forced to kill people they don’t know– people who don’t want to be at war with them any more than they want to be at war — but now they are required to sleep only four hours a day while guarding nukes!
All while the Generals and Admirals sit safely at home giving orders that ask young men to risk death, knowing a percentage will surely die.
This is insanity on a level below humanity.
I will never understand!

I don’t think anyone does.

Submarine life always looks like no life at all to me. And when it comes to monitoring anything nuclear-related, I have to believe we can do better than trot out sleep-deprived or artificially-drugged individuals to take ownership of monitoring all things nuke.

I’m not sure I want the guys in charge of the nukes all jittery from caffeinated jerky either…
