The resort.

.

As you know, the husband and I have a timeshare and it’s through that we do most of our traveling. In the six years we’ve owned it we’ve been to some fabulous resorts…. Sedona, Williamsburg, Palm Coast… all wonderful. Killington, not so much. Our choice this trip was Smugglers Notch, a ski resort in Jeffersonville Vermont we’ve visited twice before. Our first stay was marvelous, our second less so. It’s a bit of a crap shoot which unit and community you’ll be assigned, and seeing that this was a last minute booking at peak leaf peeping season, there wasn’t any wiggle room.

The resort is tucked away on the side of a mountain and is quite large.

.

.

We like peace and quiet and prefer the condos on the edges, away from the center village’s restaurants and shops. So naturally they booked us into Evergreen, right behind the main office.

Pro – we got the top floor and could see the mountain from our balcony.

.

.

Con – we were right next to the chair lift.

.

.

Pro – the unit was large. Two bedrooms, 2 baths, fireplace and full kitchen. Solidly built, we never heard doors closing or noisy neighbors.

.

.

Con- the decor hadn’t been updated for decades and was extremely plain.

.

.

Pro- the king size bed was very comfortable.

.

.

And there was a free box of maple cookies to munch while reclining.

.

.

Con- there was a jacuzzi tub in bedroom. I’ve seen this at a quite a few other resorts and it never fails to surprise me. Tubs belong in bathrooms, period.

🥴

.

And by the way…

The eighties called, they want their wallpaper back.

.

.

Mirrors?

Oh yeah, there were plenty of those.

.

.

Damn. That was a whole lotta me to wake up to every morning.

    1. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We’re always out exploring and only sleep and shower there anyway. Some units have been updated, others not. You never know which one you’ll get. It’s like condominium roulette.

  1. Holy shit, those mirrors had River times infinity going there! lol
Yeah it looks comfy physically but visually its painful to see. The pink 1980’s wallpaper and mirrors every place in the bathroom? No thank you. And as for the jacuzzi in the bedroom, I’m thinking the 1970’s are there too…lol.

    1. It was clean, organized and well stocked. The towels were fluffy and ample, the kitchen had numerous small appliances. Everything was comfortable and quiet. I can forgive outdated decor for that.

  2. I bet the “extremely plain decor” didn’t bother hubby, which makes him a man after my own heart when it comes to accommodations (so long as it has the “pros” you enumerate). Sorry, but I’m not big on updating just for the sake of updating!

  3. OK, it’s a time travel share that comes with an army of rivergirls. The part that interested me the most was the photo with your right hand in it. Your nails are always looking well manicured and I would imagine doing one with your non dominant hand would be a challenge. I can barely clip my nails with my right hand. We do vrbo when we go on vacation, but it’s expensive and can be a pain in the ass to get a good place. I’m with you on the décor. I do want it to be interesting and feel like a home. I’m glad you had a good time.

    1. We’ve done VRBO. There are some nice places but damn, I don’t want to pay $2,000 a week and then a couple hundred dollars in cleaning fees. We get a two bedroom two bath condo for $199 a week. Granted a few of them look like grandma house, but that’s half the fun.
And we always manage to have a good time when traveling. The trick is being able to laugh at the inevitable disasters.

  4. I love a jacuzzi tub in the main room! Tara and I had one in the hotel room we booked for our honeymoon. I have fond memories of sitting in there, sipping wine and watching “Breaking Bad.” What can I say? It was one of the final episodes and there was no way we were missing that!

Throw in some maple cookies and it would have been perfect.
