The resort, pros and cons.

.

This is one of the timeshare resorts where I’ve been wanting to stay for some time and we were lucky to grab a few days in the fall because they’re usually booked solid.

.

.

Located in the White Mountains, right off the Kancamagus … you couldn’t ask for a more perfect spot.

.

.

Pro..

Nestled in the trees, on the side of a hill with mountain views from every side….

.

.

It was blissfully quiet yet within walking distance to town.

.

.

Our condo was nice. Comfortable furniture in muted autumn colors, a fireplace…

.

.

Full kitchen…

.

.

And two comfortable bedrooms.

.

.

No, the husband and I don’t sleep separately…

.

.

But booking a two bedroom unit means we have two bathrooms as well…. and that my friends, is the secret to a happy marriage.

Con…

Over looking the master bed?

.

.

A moose whose eyes followed you around the room. Very disturbing, that.

.

.

Pro…

The whirlpool bathtub was in the bathroom.

.

.

Con…

The fixtures were outdated and the only soap offered was in this environmentally friendly dispenser.

.

.

Ever try to shave your legs with liquid soap ladies? I don’t recommend it.

.

.

Pro…

Glorious foliage and mountains right outside our balcony.

.

.

And terraced rocks all around the property.

.

.

There was even the namesake Pollard Brook running right down the middle.

Results of review – adding it to my “would stay there again” list, I’ll just have to remember to bring my own bar of soap.

👍

  1. Nice place, if not exactly our speed. We either rent a house or stay in a hotel/B&B, depending on our destination. We’ve never had a place with more than one bathroom, so we had to work that out. I would have been just as happy to have two bathrooms and a shorter learning curve. Next time you hit Portland for a visit, try the Westin Eastland. Best hotel stay ever, and I’ve had a few. I’m enjoying your vacation posts, especially because we haven’t had one this year.

    1. We love the two bedroom, two bath condo deal. And to be honest… we’re rarely there anyway. We sleep, shower and eat breakfast, then we’re gone. I’ve done VRBO and gotten slammed by hidden cleaning fees. Done AIrBNB and been very disappointed. After having multiple rooms and a full kitchen I can’t ever go back to a single hotel room. As for Portland, it’s less than an hours drive from our home so we’d never have reason to stay there. It’s also in the middle of a city, we prefer the middle of nowhere accommodations.

      1. We like the middle of nowhere. Our lake vacation last year was a VRBO and it was fantastic. So was Nag’s head. You’re right about hidden fees though. I love the energy of a city and restaurants/ room service are a big part of the reason why. If I lived that close to Portland I would be there all the time. There’s a burrito place on Congress run by, you guessed it, Two gay guys from Asheville. The burritos were the size of a football and there were TV’s showing the Wizard of Oz all over the place. I’ll be back.

  2. OMG, I have one of those horrid soap dispenser thingies in my tub/shower unit in my new place! (This room is destined for a full bathroom reno, at some point in the near future – 90s begone!!!! ) The condo is lovely, otherwise (creepy moose, notwithstanding) and the views are spectacular!

  3. What a gorgeous area to visit. I agree the bathrooms are pretty outdated, but like you, it’s so great to have two restroom facilities!

I hardly remember to shave my legs anymore…I imagine if I were in a winter and not ‘shorts’ situation, I might not ever do it.
