Busy work for the not so happily retired.

.

My husband started a new project. One that isn’t on the honey do list, or even makes any sense as far as I’m concerned.

.

.

But because he’s bored silly since the weather has turned and he can’t tinker outside? He decided our basement needed a ceiling.

.

.

The area is neither heated nor finished…. so why he decided this, I don’t know.

What I do know is he’s thrown all my holiday decorating items into a giant pile and mixed the Xmas with the Thanksgiving and the Easter with the Halloween. Grrr…

.

.

My little section of the basement was the only clean and organized part, so of course that’s the section he wanted to install a ceiling.

His part of the cellar still looks like this:

.

.

Packed to the rafters with useless crap his treasure. (Please note my Christmas reindeer in the foreground. It did not have a broken, missing horn yesterday. 😠

.

.

There used to be a path through this section but not anymore.

.

.

This path now dead ends as well.

.

.

The only remaining path to the stairs is starting to narrow as well. If he isn’t careful, he’s going to get trapped down there….

And at times? I think that might not be a bad thing.

🤣

  1. I’ve done a project like this, only on a considerably smaller scale. The amount of useless shit shuffling required to get anything done may give him cause for regret. If you’re gentle with his pride he may well decide that discretion is the better part of valor. Good luck.

  2. Oh my, what a huge basement you have my dear! Literally it’s freaking ginormous, I mean compared to the ones around here. For the life of me I couldn’t find the broken horned reindeer in that picture. I did see a wooden rocking horse though.

    1. It’s about 2,000 square feet… which I thought was awesome when we moved in. Sadly it didn’t take long for the husband to fill it.
The reindeer is right there in front, in the red sweater. No rocking horse.
      😉

  3. There isn’t a basement in town that doesn’t leak and flood when we get a lot of rain, so I’m happy not to have one. Then again, I’m sure you wouldn’t mind seeing the hubby’s “treasure” become sunken…

  4. I always wonder why the stuff doesn’t get covered to stay clean or moved carefully. I also figure that if it were the precious fishing gear it would be handled with kid gloves. I never minded the projects, just the collateral damage. But he no longer does projects and sometimes I wish he did.
